I use this one under my desk and it works great. It's not collapsible, but it's very lightweight.

There ARE specialized chairs for playing, but frankly MANY chairs can work, and those specialized ones tend to be really expensive.

A lot of people use 2-foot-tall bar stools. Fender and other companies make them. They are anywhere from about $50 to $100 for a nice, tall, vinyl-covered padded one. You can get these at like Guitar Center etc. This type of stool is also what Guitar Center provides out on the store floor for people to sit on while they try out guitars & amps:

I usually practice 4-6 hours a day and do it in 1 of 2 places:

Usually, I actually sit quite low on the ground, on a plastic Rubbermaid stepstool. I've been using this same one for many years. Here's a pic:

I cross my legs in front of me, "Indian style," but sitting on a stool rather than directly on the floor allows me to keep better posture. Being close to the ground keeps me at ear level for my amps, and also makes it really easy to program settings on my floorboard or adjust settings on my amp, as they are within arms' reach.

If I'm not practicing there, I usually practice on my piano bench:

This is useful for practice sessions when I'm working on theory concepts or ear training (using the piano), or if I'm doing sight-reading or learning new material and need the built-in music stand.
