My computer stays off while shortwave listening. If I need to go online for station schedules, etc., I use my smartphone.

Small spiral notebook

My favorite shortwave logging notebook. Available at any local drugstore like CVS, office supply stores, Target, Walmart, etc. for US $4.00 - $5.00. Narrow ruled, lasts for years, portable. 1 x 4 x 5.5 inches is typical. No RFI-spewing computer required, enter any information you want the way you want. Used with the memory functions of my Sangean ATS-909X radio where I also store all shortwave stations that I receive by name with frequencies for scanning/tuning functions.

Portable eight LED booklight

I have been using these LE booklights for 2 years now. Portable, free-standing desk light with clamp if needed. Rechargeable by USB. US $10.99. Use it anywhere at home or in the field for operating radio and logging at night.

Happy DX!
