MADE IN JAPAN
I'd check out this seiko. Basically an automatic version that is super dependable.

Looks a bit small on your wrist, if you're ever in the market for something a bit bigger, there's this: https://www.amazon.com/Seiko-Sports-Automatic-Snzg15J1-Watch/dp/B00943GVM0
Hmm. Seiko SNZG15? There are two variants, SNZG15K1 - Made in Malaysia. And the SNZG15J1 - Made in Japan.
Usually the Japanese made variant is about $10 more expensive than the Malaysian variety. However, the Japanese looks to be cheaper today.
Highly recommended. The Seiko 5 series is a very high-quality, well-made, accurate watch. I'm on my second of this watch (the first was lost or stolen, a few days after purchase.) and would buy a third if I managed to lose this one.
The one thing I would mention is that it's a self-winder, not a quartz—if you don't wear it for a day or two, it's going to run down. NBD, just set the time and shake it once or twice to get it going.
Yup. Smartwatches actually turned me into a watch wearer. I've gone from the original G Watch to a Sony SW3 (loved that thing) and then to a very disappointing LG G Watch R with 2.0. Just a horrible experience..but now I'm looking at this for my watch wearing..https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00943GVM0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2JY2KEB3LZZBA&coliid=I36U6JGLXQYQR3
I have had one of these (in navy blue) since 2006 and it has been great. The winding mechanism came loose once around 2011 but was repaired at a watch repair shop for probably around the same cost of the watch. There is another Seiko 5 with a bigger face for a little under $200 if that is your thing, sometimes I found the face to be a little small for me (I'm 6"1).
