Amazon reviews are always to be taken with a grain of salt, imo, especially when dealing with higher quality items. These have better reviews than these, but they're not.

The Encore is not the best grinder under $500USD, no, but it's really good. One of best grinder using most of the budget is probably the Sette, but you're also paying for espresso precision.

For Aeropress and pourover, I'd vote to get the Baratza Virtuoso. It's basically an Encore with a nicer exterior case and better burrs. You can also buy the burrs separately and add them into the Encore for less than the virtuoso.

The encore comment was a bit tongue in cheet, but the Encore is a really good grinder, especially for aeropress and pourover. I use a Virutoso.

Walmart doesn't need to sell an item in order for it to be returned. You can return an item you bought from target or amazon at walmart. In this case, however, I think they actually did sell it online. The retail value of the headphones was $600. I thought the value was $400, so I was very suprised when they rung up as $600. I was given a walmart giftcard worth about $620 if I remember correctly.

> is there a way to do this?

buy the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless instead and sell the Micca DAC/Amp

The Sennheiser Wireless Momentum 2 with noise cancelling is the next most recommended headphone with this tech. Should blow the doors off the Bose with sound quality, but not quite as good with the ANC. I believe it can work with a wire attached as well, and sounds better too compared to the Bluetooth mode.

There is also the PSB M4U 2, but I don't know how well the noise cancellation works with it. Sound quality will be excellent, but these suffer from small pads and a lot of clamp.

Anyone know the difference between the two listings amazon have?

I've recently been eyeing the Sennheiser Moment II headphones since being in the market for a pair of noise-cancelling headphones. I've been patient through seeing the price drop to $350 and then $390 CAD today.

Are they worth it at this price compared to the more recently released HD1s ($530 CAD currently)? From what I can tell, they are virtually the same with some small design tweaks.

Does anyone have knowledge or experience with either pair? Am I buying something that will soon be further replaced (or further discounted) in the near future?

Appreciate any input or advice.

i couldn't tell you that, hopefully someone more experienced could.

i can tell you that if you're willing to try out one of their warehouse deals you can get a set for nearly seventy-five less.

Open back vs closed back.

Closed back means the back of them is literally closed so no (or minimal) sound leaks out. Closed usually has higher bass response (technical reason being standing waves, I believe, as sound bounces around inside the cans). Sennheiser Momentum 2 are closed.

Open back is just that. Sound waves leak out the back of them. Sennheiser HD 558 are open.

Open back is easier to get better sound out of, technical reason being there are no or minimal standing waves, which can unintentionally boost certain frequencies. Open back also usually has a wider sound stage, things sound like they're coming from farther away from your head, as opposed to inside your head. Not sure the technical reason for that. :) But probably something to do with being able to control bouncing or standing waves easily because they just run out the back.

Closed back is kinder to people around you, or if you don't want to listen to things going on around you. Noise-cancelling headphones are something else entirely and actively try to cancel out outside sound using an opposite sound wave generator, so the sound waves are quite literally cancelled out.

I have the momentum wireless, these ones. I use them for work listening to music and shutting out annoying background sound. IMO they're very very good for shutting out background noise, i was recommended it from r/headphones.

u/maltawind · 2 pointsr/headphones

They're actually pretty light weighing in at a mere 0.69 lbs. according to Amazon's listed specs. Compare that to say the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Wireless which weigh in @ a hefty 2.0 lbs.

Plus every review I've read has said the clamping force was moderate. Perhaps you've read different ones. Also keep in the mind the velour earpads would compensate comfort-wise for excessive clamping force. If the clamping force was high and the earpads were leatherette instead, then you'd run into problems with the pads heating up and becoming sweaty pressed against your ears during extended wear. The earpads are also replaceable for cheap should they in fact become sweaty.

Here's a review of how suitable they are for wear during working-out.

A lot of people would recommend Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 and Bose QuietComfort 35.

u/messiach21 · 1 pointr/headphones

The momentum 2's are outside your budget probably but I've heard good things - and they meet all your requirements: Sennheiser Momentum 2 Wireless

I bought these wanting a headphone that I can bring out and about but also be able to wire in and use for pc gaming. The problem is that in scouring the internet I haven't found a fix for getting the onboard mics to work with a pc. Does anyone have any experience with this or have any advice? I have already tried to use a splitter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M4Q7U60/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it didn't work.

u/truvaking · 1 pointr/headphones

Hi I'm thinking about buying a headphone that has good noice-cancelling because I'm obliged to work in a crowded place and I cannot concentrate with people talking around.

Budget 200 to 400 euros

Source my phone ( iphone 6 )

Requirements for Isolation Most important. I really need it to cancel as much noise as it can.

Preferred Type of Headphone Either on ear or full-sized. Do I look funny with full sized on the outdoor?

Preferred tonal balance I dont know...

Past headphones some hyperx gaming headset and some shitty earbuds

Preferred music From order of appreciation : jazz, classical ( mostly romantic ), 80s to early 2000s pop-rock, 90s rap, everything else

Improve : quality of sound and noise cancel

Location : France

Also more games are allowing stereo headphones to give an impression of surround sound, this would be very useful to spot enemies sneaking up behind you.

And if it's wireless that's plus too!

I've thought about buying this one : https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Momentum-Wireless-Active-Cancellation/dp/B00SNI44CQ

I use this one, in conjunction with this, and these headphones.

The sound quality is amazing - works very well!

u/drakthorian0294 · 1 pointr/HeadphoneAdvice

Honestly I'd suggest the Beyerdynamic Aventho Wireless(313$)I know they are on-ear not over-ear, but they are amazing for the genres you're suggesting and sound quality is still better the QC35s.

If you want over ear I'd suggest Sennheiser Momentum 2 Wireless(250$)

In ear Shure SE425 Wireless(300$)

But that is just my personal prefference in that price range, I'm sure there are others that has good options as well :)

u/quietcore · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

These are what I would go for.

u/Typo-Kign · 1 pointr/headphones

Simple question, don't think I need the template?

Looking to buy Sennheiser Momentum 2's. Amazon has three different variants for Apple, Android, and with Active Noice Cancellation.

I will be using them mostly at home, but if I am travelling I will be using an Android phone. Do the headphones vary at all when used with my computer? And what is the difference between the Apple and Android variants? If it's only the volume rocker I am happy to sacrifice that to save $60.

On that note what is up with the huge variance in price? Do different variants have a different sale schedule? Should I jump on one of the three or wait for a sale?

u/dcabines · 1 pointr/backpacks

I am a software developer and I recently bought a new backpack after using the same bag for 15 years.

For me, the perfect backpack must have these features:

  • be the right size for EDC and light travel
  • be made of materials that will last at least 10 years
  • make it easy to get what I need when I need it
  • have a good external bottle holder
  • have a laptop compartment big enough for my 15" Lenovo Thinkpad
  • not have too many straps or rear access zippers
  • make good use of all available space

For me the perfect size is around 25l to maybe 30l. That is a bit bigger than I need for EDC, but big enough to pack for travel and still small enough to be a personal item on an airplane in the USA (other parts of the world are more restrictive). A panel loader is a bonus and I don't like roll top bags. I don't like rear zippers because I get paranoid about people behind me. I don't like extra straps that can snag on things when you are in tight spaces. I'm not interested in compression straps or a sternum strap or a waist strap. A free standing bag that doesn't fall over so easily is a bonus.

My new bag is a Setout Laptop Backpack and my old one is an old style Incase Icon. The Icon didn't have enough internal space and the bottle holder was too small and weak. The Setout is better, but I wish it had hard feet like the Icon. I tend to carry more bulky items than flat book shaped items like I did when I originally got the Icon backpack, so the large space in the Setout is perfect.

I carry a coffee server, a 24oz insulated bottle of tea, a tech organizer, headphones, my big 15" laptop, and a small notebook to work every day and the Icon wasn't able to fit them, but the Setout can quite easily.

I'd also like to give a shout out to Tortuga's great customer service.

Buddy, I work in an office for 10 hours every day. I'm run the data science team for a large company.

My headphones have an 18 hour battery life. Just buy some nice headys and you're fine. Use some of that $$$ you're making from your long hours.
