Shadow of a Dead Star by Michael Shean.
Not quite a "classic" like most of the titles you mentioned, but it certainly fits the bill, and is DEFINITELY not YA.
What is it about? Best way to describe it would be as a classic detective noir overlaid on top of a meticulously described futuristic dystopia, with a fairly deep philosophical twist buried inside.
The sequel (Redeye) is coming in the next couple of months, I believe.
Hope this helps!
