Get this alarm clock. I guaran-fucking-tee you will not be asleep when this thing goes off.

There is no way for any of us to predict what will happen in the meeting or know what company policy is. You may get a warning; you may be let go.

However, as someone who does frequent road trips, your phone dying could have been prevented by having a charger in your car or plugging it in once home. Another suggestion is to invest in an old fashioned bell alarm clock.

I have a similar one and i can hear it from the other room when it rings and it still wakes me up. the only downside is the ticking (being an analog clock) that might become annoying when you try to go to sleep. the snooze button on this is the thing that blocks the alarm bell, but you have to fiddle with it a bit to make it stop, not just push a button.

Go old school. Twin bell alarm clocks are cheap as hell, will ring until you physically turn it off, and Hay-zoose christo are they loud. Here's mine.

I bought an annoying alarm clock that has the bells on top, like this. I placed it on the other side of the room. I set it to the exact time I need to get up so I don't get tempted to lay down again. Also, I make sure not to lay down again!!

I'm an incredibly heavy sleeper, and if I'm tired, I'll turn my alarms off after they go off and go back to sleep with no recollection of doing it. I actually missed an A&P 2 test once because of that, and you're right, it makes you look incredibly unprofessional to oversleep (not to mention nobody gives you ANY sympathy for it).

Get yourself something like this, and you'll never need a back-up alarm. I was surprised at how cheap and LOUD they were. Seriously, they'll wake the rest of the house up. Now, the only time I ever oversleep is when I put it too close to the bed and my asshole sleepy-self turns it off.

I think it's fair to say that nobody calls in the middle of the night unless it's a drunk dial, booty call, or emergency. Every one of which is an emergency as far as I'm concerned.

As for texting, you can exclusively mute texting automatically with various 'quiet hours' apps.

There are already hardware speakers, there are already apps that do these things.

That sucks, sorry to hear that. Maybe an extra alarm that's not a phone. I have one of those old fashioned alarm clocks that is crazy loud that I set on nights when I'm by myself. It is really hard to sleep through.

You can place it somewhere far from your bed. It has such an annoying sound that will get you out of bed. Also it has no snoozing :)

Also, i found it very helpful to drink some water as first thing to do after getting out of bed.
