I personally haven't purchased one but I found these silicone gel guards. An alternative. Or you could try out one of these leather cases, 1 and 2. The leather ones look similar to ones I got for a kindle, and for what it's worth, it worked pretty well for that.

They're not very like the one pictured, but Hori has these Joy-Con grips that add some thickness and I don't think have had a worldwide release. There's also this which similarly bulks up the Joy-Con area, but is a cover for the entire system.

Thanks for the feedback - the Joycons really cramp my hands, I can't play anything more than an hour or two, let alone intense action games. I also tried the silicon sleeves and they're simply not good enough, they move around a lot and hardly offer much of a grip. I ordered one of those grips from Play-Asia and can't wait for it to finally reach me. I hope this time I'll have some proper gaming experience.

I would def recommend all of them because the thumbstick covers help with accuracy so much and the grip case makes it so much easier to hold switch comfortably.
