This week I turned 30 and got a haircut, looking at the selfie I took after I thought my skin finally looks like its in a better place so I thought I’d share my routine! As a guy that has lurked this sub for a while I thought I’d try and help the other dudes here who feel a bit lost at trying to look our best.

Been trying to find the right regime I can stick to for years - started using my moms and various SOs face stuff, using just about every trick in the book that we all know only makes our skin worse. The routine I’ve settled on now is…

AM:

CeraVe Foaming cleanser in the shower - Been using it for years. Works well. I can only use it once a day though, dries my skin otherwise. - https://www.amazon.com/CeraVe-Foaming-Facial-Cleanser-Washing/dp/B01N1LL62W/ref=sr_1_1?crid=168GZIOVSWILM&keywords=cerave+foaming+facial+cleanser&qid=1569373936&sprefix=cer%2Caps%2C186&sr=8-1

TO Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - Started using this a few months back and it seems to be helping a lot. Blemishes fade faster, are less apparent throughout the morning, I like it - https://theordinary.com/product/rdn-niacinamide-10pct-zinc-1pct-30ml?redir=1

TO Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 - The first day I used this was the first day in years I can remember not having an oil field on my face at the end of the workday and not seeing pools of oil on the bridge of my glasses when I take them off, I think having properly hydrated skin has really help keep my acne at bay and skin clearer - https://theordinary.com/product/rdn-hyaluronic-acid-2pct-b5-30ml?redir=1

TO Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA - Favorite moisturizer I’ve used and I’ve tried a handful - https://theordinary.com/product/rdn-natural-moisturizing-factors-ha-30ml?redir=1

Sunscreen - currently using a mineral sunscreen from CVS, unclear on brand. Not the best, not the worst. Going to give TO’s Mineral UV Filters a try next.

PM:

OCM with Snow River Mineral oil - Used it for about 4 years now, works extremely well, wipe it off with microfibers I get from Amazon in bulk - https://www.amazon.com/Snow-River-7V03389-cutting-boards/dp/B0000CFSV9/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3428RJM9PZTOA&keywords=snow+river+wood+oil&qid=1569374251&sprefix=snow+river+%2Caps%2C168&sr=8-1

TO Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution - I use this every other day, sometimes every 2. I was using it every day but since stopping that I’ve found my skin feels a bit better - https://theordinary.com/product/rdn-glycolic-acid-7pct-toning-solution-240ml?redir=1

TO Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 - Again, see above!

**TO Vitamin C Suspension 23%

  • HA Spheres 2% - Use this daily, the first few days I used it I woke up with noticeably better skin - https://theordinary.com/product/rdn-vitamin-c-suspension-23pct-ha-spheres-2pct-30ml?redir=1

TO Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA - Again, see above!

    Once a week:

TO Salicylic Acid 2% Masque - This stuff makes my skin feel amazing afterwords. Like, washing it off and my skin feels noticeably different. Since using it I’ve been more blemish free. Generally use this Wednesdays once a week - https://theordinary.com/product/rdn-salicylic-acid-2pct-masque-50ml?redir=1

TO AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution** - This stuff gives me a very similar experience to the Masque but I feel the differences the next morning. My skin looks more even and healthier. I use this typically on Sundays but may skip a week if I’m feeling dry. - https://theordinary.com/product/rdn-aha-30pct-bha-2pct-peeling-solution-30ml?redir=1

Happy to answer any questions about the regime or products! I'm planning to add a few more TO products to my regime soon and can update any successes later on. So far, everything above will be a constant part of my regime - I'm even about to bulk order most of the TO stuff so I don't run out anytime soon haha.

    Hope this helps others! :)

E: I posted this earlier this week but it was removed as it was a selfie and not Friday, so I'm reposting today so anyone interested in it can see.

I'll jump on to recommend Snow River Wood Oil. It's a fragrance-free mineral oil.

u/squidboots · 7 pointsr/LifeProTips

You're better off getting pure food grade mineral oil (baby oil has fragrance and tocopherols, which makes it thicker.) Laxative mineral oil also has tocopherols and is much thicker. Pure mineral oil is totally odorless and is much easier to spread around.

You can buy it at Bed Bath and Beyond or Amazon pretty inexpensively. This is also what you use on wooden utensils/cutting boards to condition and keep them from cracking (though I personally use a mixture of beeswax and mineral oil for this purpose.)

u/hookershit · 5 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Snow River Wood Oil is the suggestion in the OCM post on the side bar.

It's what I use, I pick up a bottle from Bed, Bath & Beyond. An 8 oz. for $7. One bottle lasts me about a month, that's with using it for makeup removal and OCM.

u/yvva · 5 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

HAHA, oh walmart. Yeah, mineral oil has many uses:

baby oil , cutting board oil, laxative, ear wax softener, bath oil, general moisturizer....

Anyhow, I wouldn't use the laxatives one because it tends to be cut with Vit E, which gives it this gross, thick, and sticky texture. Not like the thin and light baby oil.

Try ordering off Amazon or iHerb. Or looks like walmart has this. It should be USP/food grade, so you don't have to worry about it being contaminated.

u/ItsStellar · 3 pointsr/DIYBeauty

Thanks for the reply! I don't know why I didn't think you'd be here, your like my skincare godmother lol. I was thinking about using it in it's original packaging but if something like this is necessary I can switch over to that.

So I've looked into some more DIY threads and I'm assuming you mean percentages, so for that I'm unsure if I need a digital scale. So I measure out the amount of oil cleanser I have now, roughly, using the digital scale. Then using another type of container, like a beaker, I measure out the correct number of Cromollient SCE I need, for example 0.60 ounces if I had about 5.40 ounces of mineral oil, to make the total batch 6 ounces. Am I missing anything?

u/[deleted] · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Yup. Popping in for a PSA:

Mineral oil that is not cut with vitamin E is often marketed as Snow River Wood Oil. Mineral oil that is cut with vitamin E, which is notoriously comedogenic, will be much thicker.

That said, mineral oil as a makeup remover and straight-up cold pressed organic Argan Oil as a moisturizer and hair serum have made such a dramatic improvement in the texture and shine of my hair, and the evenness and dewyness of my skin. I can't recommend them enough--and if you get them from places that are not Josie Maran, it's relatively inexpensive. (But of course, always patch test first.)

u/grapeling · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Johnson's Baby Oil has fragrance, as far as I know. I use Snow River. I have seborrheic dermatitis and that and squalane 100% are the only two types of oil I can use!

u/space-honey · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Warning: long rambling comment ahead. My skin has recently been dry and acne-prone as well. I'm not as much of a skincare expert as some of the folks around here, but I'll tell you what's worked for me.

  • Cleansing with an oil. This may sound silly if you get breakouts and YMMV, but I've found they clean my skin well without drying. I've used sunflower oil from Walmart in the past and a lot of people here swear by this mineral oil that is marketed for polishing wood.

Alternately, you could try a Cleansing Oil type product, which are sold for the purpose of skincare and usually contain an emulsifier to make it easier to wash the oil off your face. A lot of Asian lines sell cleansing oils; I've used and liked this one. Currently, I am using a solid oil product from Clinique. It's marketed as a makeup remover but I find it cleanses my skin very well on its own. I sometimes follow it up with a cleanser but I don't seem to need to if I wash the oil off thoroughly. Oils are the gentlest way I've found to cleanse my skin, and I'd recommend them to anyone with dry skin. Just avoid the highly comedogenic ones (e.g. coconut oil) and know that you might have to test a few before you find one you love. I just saw that you've ordered hemp seed and argan oils; I have a feeling you'll like them. (Side note: argan oil is a wonder drug. I use it basically like a serum, rubbing it into my skin and just letting it on.)

  • I ditched my benzoyl peroxide products after it became apparent to me that they dried my skin out without doing all that much to help my acne. Are you putting the BP on your whole face or just using it as a spot treatment?

Most (helpful) acne products I've found are drying to some extent, so I weigh the benefits against the side effects, meaning that a drying product has to be pretty damn amazing at fighting zits if I'm going to use it. Benzoyl Peroxide was not that product for me, unfortunately, though it may be for you. I found that it sped up the healing process of spots only minimally compared to doing nothing to them, so I threw it out. I've replaced it with Stridex pads and Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion. Like I said, they are quite drying (the Buffering Lotion actually has alcohol in it) but they offer enough tangible benefits that I am willing to accept that.

I use the Stridex pads 2-3 times a week, and only on areas where I have sebaceous filaments, blackheads, and breakouts. I know a lot of people here love them for SFs, but I've found they shrink cystic spots pretty quickly as well. They smell weird and sting, especially if you put on moisturizer too soon after using them, but they work really well.

The Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion is a great spot treatment, and the only product that's ever helped me with cysts that are still under the skin. I've actually used it on deep cysts before and had them disappear before ever coming to a head; it's like magic!

  • I've recently started using honey as a mask and it's one of the few things that has helped moisturize my skin while simultaneously shrinking zits. You may not be into using a mask and, if you try this, you will feel like a sticky lunatic until you wash it off. It's a very gentle treatment though and quite calming on days when my skin feels extra dry and irritated. Some people will use raw honey but I just bought a cheap generic bottle after checking that the only ingredient listed was honey. You literally just slather it on your face and let it sit for a bit; I usually read for about an hour before washing it off with water. The next day my skin is soft and my spots are smaller.

I hope at least some of that giant comment was helpful to you! One last thing I would recommend is adding an additional moisturizer at night. You said that the AHA cream helps with your PIH so I wouldn't stop using that, but you could always layer another moisturizer with it to combat the dryness. As long as neither product breaks you out I don't see the harm in using two! I have no specific recommendations on a moisturizer as I've been looking for one myself (just bought this one though and it looks promising) but I'd look for something richer and non-comedogenic.

Edit: Sorry for the wonky formatting, I do not know how to fix it!
u/transaccount11 · 3 pointsr/ftm

Disinfect your razor with rubbing alcohol after each work. Also, bar soap isn't a great thing to be putting on your face (although dove isn't as bad as most of them). I find shaving with mineral oil works really well, and it's very unlikely to break you out (if you go with mineral oil, get cutting board oil such as this rather than baby oil or oil labelled as a laxative; you can find this brand at Bed Bath and Beyond in addition to amazon). If you decide to go with something else, be sure to search for it on cosdna to see if it's likely to break you out.

Also, jaw and cheeks is where hormonal acne breakouts tend to happen, so it might not all be about your shaving technique, especially since you appear to have started having bacne problems. For my bacne, I cleanse my back with my face wash, apply benzoyl peroxide, moisturize, and put on an old t-shirt before going to bed. Benzoyl peroxide on bacne is a hassle (it bleaches everything), so I don't recommend it to start with. I'd start with using a good, noncomedogenic moisturizer on your back after showering (I've heard some people report that their bacne went away after that), and then try incorporating a leave-on salicylic acid product such as stridex. Incorporate products one at a time so that if you skin starts having issues, you know what product caused it.

Welcome! :) Also, good for you for reaching out to educate yourself and improve your skin! <3

I'm still learning as well, but here is my basic understanding of a few things which I have gathered from around these parts...

  1. Do not re-vamp your entire skin care regimen simultaneously. One product at a time, or you won't be able to know which don't agree with you, should even just one thing not.
  2. Baby oil and mineral oil are pretty much the same thing, except baby oil often adds fragrances/other things which make it more likely (for some people, at least) to have a bad reaction. Not sure how Amazon and Australia get along, but this seems to be the safest mineral oil option. Mineral oil is all that is in it!
Those are a few points from posts like this and for your edit, read here
    Good luck!
u/tearsofpchies · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddicts

I use Snow River Wood Oil - I think Bed Bath & Beyond also sells this. It's the same thing as baby oil, but without the fragrance (which can be irritating for some people).

It's highly recommended over at /r/SkincareAddiction! I was skeptical at first (what? cutting board oil?) but nothing else I've tried has been half as effective!

u/ddeevv · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Can you order stuff from Amazon? Because this is the one everyone recommends: http://www.amazon.com/Snow-River-8-Ounce-Wood-Oil/dp/B0000CFSV9

You can also find the brand at Bed Bath & Beyond if you have one

u/the_itsb · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I'm a total novice and have just experimented to find things that work for me based on stuff I've read here, so please take this all with a huge grain of salt. Ymmv, etc.

Anyway. Yes, I started with just plain mineral oil - I had to go to Amazon to find just straight mineral oil, everything local had fragrance or something else, so I found a food-safe mineral oil there, figuring if it was high enough grade to ingest then it was high enough grade for my face. (Not saying, "anything you can eat, you can put on your face!" I just mean if it's a thing you would put on your face and it is high enough grade of that thing that it is food-safe, then it's also probably face-safe, even if they're not marketing it for that purpose. Please anyone feel free to correct me if I'm making a dangerous error!)

I'm currently using a mix of oils I make using that mineral oil and apricot kernel oil 50/50 for the base, and then adding a little rosehip oil and tea tree oil.

When I wear makeup, I double-cleanse and use micellar water in addition to oil. I just use Simple brand stuff I found at Kroger or Walmart.

OCM helped, but I struggled to stay moisturized all day, especially under makeup. CeraVe and Pond's broke me out, I had a hard time finding anything at the store that didn't have a lot of ingredient overlap with them and I wasn't willing to shell out $20+ on moisturizer I wasn't sure would work. I found this weird Egyptian Magic stuff at Walmart and thought the simplicity of the ingredients was promising (olive oil, beeswax, honey, bee pollen, royal jelly, and propolis), so I tried it out and fell in love. Before I found out Amazon has it too, my Walmart ran out and didn't get any back for a week, and my skin really suffered - it sounds silly but it was almost painful to not have it soothed and hydrated all the time, it just felt so sensitive and uncomfortable. This stuff has become my Holy Grail, can't-live-without-it item.

Edit - jfc that got long, sorry. Hope that was informative and helpful for you or someone, thank you all for coming to my very shitty TED talk ❤️

u/turkturkleton · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I just read in an old thread here about this stuff: http://www.amazon.com/Snow-River-8-Ounce-Wood-Oil/dp/B0000CFSV9
It's fragrance free if you still want to try mineral oil.

u/jellyyy · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Yep, baby oil is just mineral oil with fragrance added. I believe pure mineral oil is also sometimes sold as "wood oil." You can get it on Amazon here, and I also heard they sell it at Bed Bath and Beyond!

u/rxymoan · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Here is one. Don't worry about its intended use as a cutting board oil, it is 100% mineral oil and safe to use. I personally have never heard of using OCM last, so I can't offer any advice.

u/MissBrightside13 · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction
  1. I'd start by reading this link! Basically, you know if it's a silicone-based product if ingredients ending with -cone or -methicone are at the top of the ingredients list. A bunch of people collaborated to create this spreadsheet as well, which allows you to look up your primer/foundation/concealer to see if they're compatible!

  2. Do you live near an Ulta? A lot of Ultas have testers in the drugstore section, which would allow you to find a shade match. If there aren't drugstore testers, I'd go ask for as many free foundation samples as you can from Sephora or the Ulta prestige section. Input the ones that match your face into findation, which is a site that will find foundation matches in any brand you want based on your known matches. As for recommendations, the first foundation I used was CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 foundation, and I used it for a whole year before my skin cleared up and I started using a BB cream, and now I just use concealer and powder! I also tried Maybelline FitMe (the dewy one, not the matte one) and I liked that one too. I might recommend the dewy one for a beginner, because matte foundations can be a bit unnatural and harsh if you don't have a whole lot of practice, plus a dewy foundation can be easily mattified by your setting powder!

  3. I also wear glasses! (I wear contacts sometimes though.) Whoever told you that kind of got it backwards. When you wear glasses, all of your eye makeup is kind of "muted", so you can definitely go bolder than you would if you weren't wearing glasses! In that case, I think black eyeliner would be fine. Is your face high-contrast? What color hair and eyebrows do you have? I noticed you didn't have a brow product on your shopping list. Are you planning to buy one? Depending on your eye shape, liner on the bottom can be harsh and make your eyes seem smaller, but if you have big eyes or you really like the look, go for it! A lot of people stay away from it because it's very easy to cross the line into "hot topic preteen" with too much black lower liner. As far as tutorials go, this is probably the most useful one I've ever seen for eyeshadow!

  4. You'll be fine! I currently live in a shitty dorm with terrible lighting. The important thing is to make sure that your foundation matches, but you obviously don't have to check that every day, so don't worry if your lighting isn't perfect. If you're really worried, you can sneak outside real quick with a mirror just to make sure you don't look ridiculous. I know that some people on MUA who don't have good natural lighting use ring lights like this one, which is a bit pricey but could be worth it long-term?

  5. I've never actually used Micellar water. I saw it at the store and was interested, but I ended up not going for it because it was about three times as expensive as what I use currently, which is 100% mineral oil! I buy it here from amazon and it removes all my makeup wonderfully, with the added benefit that it's very good for your skin! My routine at night is remove makeup with mineral oil, sometimes exfoliate with Stridex, use CeraVe foaming cleanser, moisturize with Nivea soft moisturizing cream, then spot treat with tea tree oil and 10% benzoyl peroxide. I do not know how effective Micellar water will be, but I do know that the mineral oil is able to remove even waterproof mascara.

If any of that didn't make sense, I'll clarify lol. More questions? (I'm trying to avoid programming homework haha)
u/IMunchGlass · 2 pointsr/Guitar

You could wipe them down daily with GHS fast fret. It's a little expensive on Amazon so I'd recommend going to a store to pick it up. It helps clean the guitar strings and keeps them fresher longer. I've read online that the liquid in there is just wood/mineral oil so I've been reusing the applicator with that liquid and haven't noticed any difference.

u/the_last_126 · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

This is the oil that I use for OCM, I found out about it on /r/SkincareAddiction and it is pretty affordable. I used to use the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, which is totally worth the international shipping but not as budget friendly or well tolerated as plain oils. Snow River Cutting Board Oil is also sold on Amazon in slightly different packaging and larger sizes.

These links 1 and 2 are from the sidebar of /r/SkincareAddiction referencing OCM and carrier oils. They have great info about patch testing and OCM in general. Oils, like any cleansers, can be very personal and finding what works for you is a bit of trial and error. Tocopherol (Vitamin E) is a common cosmetic irritant, although some people do well with mineral oil laxatives from the drugstore. I've also had good results with Albolene, which is Mineral Oil (Paraffinum Liquidum), Petrolatum, Beeswax (Apis Mellifera), Ceresin, Beta Carotene (Vitamin A). I buy mine at Walgreens, but it's also available on Amazon.

Hope this helps!

It is just mineral oil. This is what a lot of members (including myself) use. It also makes your face super smooth and it is lovely stuff. Check up on mineral oil on the wiki friend!

u/debok · 1 pointr/wicked_edge

This is what I use.

Mineral oil is an occlusive oil, meaning it will create a moisture barrier. It will help to keep water from evaporating out of your skin.

u/odi_ous · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

So I have been lurking in this sub for a while now, and have learned a ton. My skin has greatly improved thanks to everyone here sharing their knowledge. The one thing now that I have yet to try, and seem to really need, is oil cleansing. I have huge pores and blackheads on my nose and onto my upper cheeks. I have read the sidebar articles and everything I could on OCM, but I still feel that I did it wrong my first try.

I bought the snow river wood oil (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000CFSV9/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) because of a recommendation on the subreddit.

Basically, I washed my face, patted dry, and started to massage the area of my face with the oil. I did not notice any of the effects that people reported (grits and such) and it just made my skin super oily (obviously). After nothing happened, I started to panic because basically everything causes me to break out, and instantly washed multiple times with my facewash followed by stridex.

Could anyone give me some quick advice, is this normal? If not, what am I doing wrong, and will this oil seriously not cause me to break out like crazy? I feel like im going to wake up tomrw to massive break outs. Thanks!

u/Whaaaooo · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

Is this the kind of mineral oil I want to be using on my face at the end of the day (to get the sunscreen out of my pores)?: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0000CFSV9/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?qid=1422489140&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70&dpPl=1&dpID=41MZ2M1B87L&ref=plSrch

u/TheLalaShow · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

Mineral Oil works fine for me. I started with the original Johnson's Baby Oil and while I never experienced any issues I did worry about the fragrance causing problems later on. Next I bought Walgreen's brand mineral oil and it's worked really well for me, though I've read that some people can have reactions to it's inactive ingredient tocopherol. This is my next purchase, it's as pure as it comes and is frequently recommended on this sub.

I keep a box of Kleenex hand towels or a roll of Viva paper towels on my vanity and use them (wet) to remove the oil and makeup once I'm done massaging. I much prefer this to using washcloths, I find them softer on my skin.

Other than that I'll use a little Argan oil as a moisturizer on areas more prone to drying but that's really it.

Hi there!

I just wanted to let you know that Automod has removed your comment because it contains an Amazon referral link, which we don't allow in the sub.

Could you please edit the URL so that everything from (and including) "tag=" is removed? That way, the product page will still be visible - but no one can make a profit from the link.

Alternatively, copy this link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000CFSV9

If you've done that, please reply to this message so I can approve your comment. Thank you!

u/janee346 · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

Is there a difference between baby oil and snow river wood oil other than baby oil containing fragrance? I know they are both mineral oil, though. I have been using baby oil, but I have decided to switch to the wood oil because it doesn't contain fragrance and I thought it would help my skin. Should I be concerned about breaking out from the wood oil, even though I have been using baby oil for years?

u/SimHuman · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction
  1. No. "Fragrance" covers hundreds of different ingredients. You can react to 10 fragranced products and be fine with 10 others. If you tend to have issues with fragranced products, it is usually just easier to avoid all fragrances.

  2. This is popular here!
u/poopgirlcat · 1 pointr/AskMen

haha yeah, you're gonna look awesome :)

check into OCM (oil cleansing) a lot of people are obsessed with it. You basically rub your face with oil and take a warm microfiber cloth and wash it off. mineral oil is pretty much the most non comodogenic http://www.amazon.com/Snow-River-8-Ounce-Wood-Oil/dp/B0000CFSV9/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1419662834&sr=8-8&keywords=mineral+oil

i would definitely check out the garden of wisdom site and look up their oils for oily skin... neem oil smells really abd but is incredibly for spotting on acne, safflower seed oil is very high in lineolic acid so it's great for acneic skin, check out chardonnay grapeseed oil as well... basically look for oils high in lineolic acid

But I have no idea if the company would still test on animals or not when the product isn't intended as a cosmetic in this case. I can't find any info about the company Swan.

Edit: There's also Snow River Wood Oil

This seems safer since the company sells kitchen products rather than pharmacy/bath products, right?

This has fragrance listed as an ingredient, which could be irritating your skin. You might even be allergic to some of the fragrances, too! Would you be willing to try something that's 100% mineral oil? A favorite in this sub is Snow River Wood Oil.

Regardless, you should always check which oils you're using in this Comedogenic Ratings Chart. Olive Oil has a rating of 2, which means it could be causing/exacerbating your acne.

Also, another popular suggestion for folks who have tried a lot of over the counter stuff is PocketDerm. Click here for a referral code - you'll get your first month FREE, so you don't really have much to lose.

Basically your skin profile will change to sensitive, dry and dehydrated and you have to treat it as such, which means a lot of pampering for the next couple of months. I took the general advice of nothing but CeraVe and Aquaphor for my first course and I think I did more damage that way. I switched over to r/AsianBeauty afterwards trying to fix the leftover scars and because of all I've learned over there, my second round is going quite smoothly.

Here's what I do:

  • Rub a 1:4 mix of castor oil & mineral oil all over my face to dislodge all sunscreen and dirt. Mineral oil is just baby oil with no fragrance, which can be irritating (thought you might want to consider baby oil for the rest of your body cause it'll dry out too).

  • Wash off all oil with a low-pH foaming cleanser

  • Apply a hydrating toner. This one has hyaluronic acid in it which attracts moisture to your skin and helps other lotions/creams sink in.

  • Apply Shark Sauce. It has 5% niacinamide which helps fade dark spots and even out your skin tone. It's made by a redditor from the Asian Beauty sub and it works so well and was so popular she ended up quitting her job to make it full time. I can honestly say that it's a godsend when you have the initial breakout because any remaining scars will fade very quickly. It was agonizing to deal with those the first time around.

  • Apply Rosette Aqua Ceramide Gel to heal and protect your skin barrier.

  • Apply Benton Snail Bee High Content Steam Cream

  • Apply sunscreen. This one has a little alcohol in it which dries your skin out but my other products work so well, I don't feel a difference.

I only do the oil & foam cleanse at night, usually just water in the morning. With this routine I've actually been able to use a couple actives with no problems, mainly Stridex in the red box every other day at the beginning to calm my initial breakout.Another trick I use is I apply a thin layer of Prosacea to affected areas. You can get these two at a CVS or Walgreens. Also, I'm a picker and I found that if I pick and pop something, this routine plus a hydrocolloid bandage on top works miracles: the zit heals faster than it should on Accutane and the mark it leaves behind is gone/significantly faded within two weeks.

Results: Two months into accutane and my skin shows no signs of dryness. It stays hydrated all day so all I have to worry about is my chapped lips. My scars are fading at a phenomenal rate and I even glow a little from all the moisture. You may find it daunting at first, so maybe start out with the foam cleanser, the toner, the ceramide gel and the sunscreen. I'd also suggest going over to r/AsianBeauty and doing a search for dry, sensitive skin if you want more options.

I hope this helps and good luck! You'll look and feel amazing afterwards.

Edit: Supplements! I take fish oil, evening primrose oil and vitamin D.

if you just started a routine your skin might be reacting to the tap water from regular cleansing rather than the cleanser.

But if you want to try oil cleansing, I recommend starting with mineral oil since that's basically generic oil abstracted away from properties of specific oils.
