I bought a set of these that work really well ... which I forget about half the time and wind up snagging a pair of these from whatever drugstore is closest to the venue.
I don't end up needing them for every show, but thanks to over a decade and a half of metal and punk shows (and Motörhead and Trouble in particular) I've got mild tinnitus that I'm not looking to make any worse.

I take the cord off though. They have a sturdy little handle on them which makes them easy to push in and pull out. When I'm around possible triggers I keep the left one all the way in and the right one just barely in. Then I can quickly push the right one in if trouble starts.

But I only use one in the ear not against the pillow or it'd be too uncomfortable. Not great for loud noises though.
Ear plugs. They work. The foam ones are cheap but may not work well for you depending on how lightly you sleep. If they don't work, get the ringed kind like these. They work for me and are washable so you don't have to keep replacing them as they gunk up from ear excretions.
