I use the the thin, flexible cases and add a metal plate into the back. I use the magnetic mount in my truck and cases that are too thick don't work very well with the mag mount.

Works great and it’s cheap.
I personally prefer the flexible rubber NGP/TPU style cases. They are easy to get on and off when necessary, they protected from minor falls, and they don't add much bulk to the phone at all.
I got the Spigen Liquid Amor from Amazon for $12. I also like Incipio brand rubber cases.

I would not buy it again. If you have it make sure you clean behind the phone regularly.
