Got a magnetic car mount and the quartz microfiber case. Loving both.

I use this one and its perfect. I don't even want an infotainment screen, just this.

u/CAYCE_VII · 6 pointsr/AndroidWear

I took this stand and filed out a slot large enough to fit the angled part of this cable to the left of the hole for the Apple Watch charger and used a magnetic car dock to keep my charger from moving around and allows me to easily switch between my G Watch R charger and my Urbane charger.

I'll post more pictures after I get home from work.

I use a magnetic mount like this. Owing to the metal build of the phone, it stays put without even using the included plates, even with a case on (same as yours).
So easy to set and remove when getting in and out of the car.

It's a metal plate that sticks to the magnet in a magnetic phone holder for a car.

I use the Spigen Kuel A200 magnetic mount on my phone in the car. Like the Note7 and S7 Edge I had before my Note 9, this mount is capable of supporting the phone in my car through 99% of my driving with the exception of extreme bumps WITHOUT any additional magnetic material added to the case or phone. There is enough force from the magnets to the magnetic material already in the phone to support it. The mount does come with magnetic stickers (well, I guess ferrous stickers) to improve the magnetic force, but I find them unnecessary. Also these stickers interfere with wireless charging which I use a lot.

edit - I didn't go through lots of mounts or anything so I can't say if other magnetic mounts work well enough. This one worked on the first try back with my Note7 so I never had to try any others. Also, I use very thin TPU cases which will play a role. My case is: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FT86KVB/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm loving it so far, I don't think I'm going to use it as a cardholder. I got a vent mount for someone as a gift. I think I'm going to get one for me and put the metal plate in there. I tried it out and it works awesome.

The case looks good, the buttons don't stick out and it's already survived a hard fall on the hardwood floor. I think I'm going to keep it. Love this phone and want to keep it pristine as long as I can.

Stay away from the case with the kickstand. The kickstand is flimsy as hell and will probably be lost within a week. Only cheap feeling product I've ever gotten from spigen.

One of those magnet/vent clip mounts for the car. Life changing to just be able to pop it on the vent with a low profile and no clip nonsense. Best part is they are dirt cheap. I have this one http://amzn.com/B0109JIQ0W

u/octobereighth · 3 pointsr/nexus5x

Depending on where you'll be traveling (i.e., depending on the temperature), you could get a magnetic phone mount that clips to your vent. Then turn the AC on - the AC will blow right at the phone!

Doubly good, since it will (hopefully) put your phone in a convenient navigation location.

I have this one and it's been great; there are tons of others on Amazon pretty cheap.

u/RedOctober357 · 3 pointsr/WRX

I bought a magnetic air vent clip that came with a magnetic back plate that I attached to the accessport. Here's the link. No problems holding the accessport and you can move it to the far left of the vent to where you still get some air.

This is what I use. It has a magnet that clips onto an air vent and a steel plate that attaches to your phone to stick to the magnet. The plate is probably intended to go under a case but will fit under the normal backplate of the ZF2 if you don't use one. This might break NFC functionality if you care about that, haven't tried it. Has worked pretty well for me. There's a bigger version with a stronger magnet but it doesn't really seem necessary even for a big phone like this.

Spigen Magnetic Mount. It's $7 and it holds the phone really well.

Used to use ProClips with my previous 2 phones, but there's no charging holder to use the 6P with a case.

u/ml0v · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

This one is fuuuuuucking awesome. Just got it today, can't recommend enough.

u/heath_says_wut · 2 pointsr/mazda3

Just don't buy anything that glues to the dash/window (including the Scosche). It will unglue or make a mess from the heat if you're in a hot southern climate. I didn't like the vent mounts either but for the new model you don't have any good dash locations. I went with the spigen. It has a soft rubber surface and won't scratch your vent and the magnetic disc is super thin, I've had a few cheap ones and the difference in quality is huge.

If you don't want to block the vent, get the Proclip, your budget should cover it.

u/bellmanator · 2 pointsr/coupons

I have three of these but not this brand. Two are Logitech and one is Spigen. They all work well but I paid over $30 for the Logitechs. I recommend the Spigen it holds my iPhone 6 in a heavy duty case with no problems, looks and feels better too. It's close to the price of this one.

Bought something like this off aliexpress for like $2. Works great I just stuck a magnet to the outside of my case and it sticks to the vent. Had it for a year, no complaints.

u/mattymck · 2 pointsr/cars

a decent phone mount is what you need. If you have a case on your phone get a magnetic mount. You stick a thin metal plate on the inside of your case so that the magnets of the mount stick to the phone.

this is the one i use.

u/Earguy · 2 pointsr/Cameras

GorillaPod makes one that is suitable for a point and shoot.

Then there's this for only $800 without a head. But it seems like it's exactly what you have in mind.

You might be able to DIY by removing the feet of the tripod and shoving a cell phone magent mount like this and securing with gaffer tape. I have one of these, and the magnet is quite strong. If used at a higher speed I'd be double-sure and use tie-downs on it.

u/worklag · 2 pointsr/GalaxyS7

as for the case i went with the tough armor case in gold. For taking it in and out for VR it's not bad at all, i dont even take the hard plastic off to get the phone out.

Found this when i was case shopping and it works very well (i dont have the magnet secured to the case, just floating between the hard and soft parts of the case)

u/yourmightyruler · 2 pointsr/cars

I personally bought Spigen Car Mount Holder and I use it almost every day. I'm in love with this $7 thing.

u/Dawg605 · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

I have one of these and love it.

https://www.amazon.com/Spigen®-Magnetic-Holder-Neodymium-Galaxy/dp/B0109JIQ0W

It uses magnets, so you can put it in any orientation easily and quickly. The magnets are strong, so you're phone definitely won't fall off. It's also quick and easy to pop it on or off. You can either put the magnet directly on the phone or inside of a case. I recommend a case so you don't get any sticky residue on the back of your phone. It's also only 7 bucks.

u/CommondeNominator · 2 pointsr/Audi

Fair enough, definitely easy and error-proof. Cords just bug me when I'm driving, I don't even have my phone charging unless it's nearly dead. Having a manual trans doesn't help.

I came up with a different solution though.

I used two of these nifty magnetic mounts and put the two rectangular metal plates on two corners of my iPad, placing the mounts in about the center of each of the middle airvents. The result works really well.. Makes it easy to just hand over the iPad to anyone who wants to control the music. Also have an apple music subscription, I think that covers about anything you want to listen to.

I realize this won't work for everyone, but this would work equally as well on any tablet (let's face it if you're driving an Audi you can afford a $150 nexus 7) and with any streaming audio service or just a very well stocked library of songs.

u/bastardpeaches · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

This one: Amazon but probably any mag mount with a vent clip will work. The clip part screws into the round plastic that holds the magnets. You may have to find a longer screw if you want to screw into something thicker.

I'd avoid the ones with the ball-swivel mount for this method. Those sockets or ball sections are molded in, so they'll be harder to attach to a flat surface. I didn't need the adjustability since the panavise bracket already tilts it to the correct angle, and I preferred the super low profile.

I've had a lot of luck with this one so far. Haven't noticed any impact to performance. I am a little concerned about what will happen if I blow warm air out of the vents, but don't generally use those vents for warm air.

u/knownerror · 1 pointr/mazda3

I bought a Spigen magnetic phone mount for cheap off of Amazon and it works better than I thought it would. It's mounted on the vent just to the right of the steering wheel and only covers about half the vent. Close to perfect positioning.

u/copcheck11 · 1 pointr/lgg6

Good topic, and I learned something today as I didn't know a magnet would stick to the G6 without the plate.
I've been using a MOCI car mount for a year and used it with my G4, G5, and now G6 and have not experienced any issues.
Below is a link to the current case I bought, permament MOCI mount, and a travel one. The reason I bought the travel air vent mount is that I wanted to get away from taking my Tom Tom GPS when I travel for work. This allows me to use the magnet so I can use my phone GPS, plus it's a nice kickstand for plane trips.

I have a similar (cheaper) one that I love. The metal plate gets stuck to my phone. It's so thin that I can put my phone's case on over the plate. The magnets, plural, 4 of them in a square pattern, keep the phone very, very secure. Been using it since 4/2016 with zero ussues.

There is a master list of Benson Leung's "blessed" chargers over at /r/nexus6p/. It looks like it hasn't been updated in since December, but it might be a good place to start.

Here is what I personally went with:

u/lshaw52 · 1 pointr/iphone

I have this one. Works wonders, it comes with 2 magnets. I had one on the back of my phone, but decided I didn't like it so I removed it and all the residue. I took the 2nd magnet and put it it in the back of my phone case without sticking it to anything. It has been amazing.

Ordered this about 5 months ago to run a second phone to help me and it's done great too.

Get this, I know you have tried something like this before but I promise the spigen one is superior in every way.

  1. The magnet is much more powerful than the other brands and holds it tight, I'm using it for 9 months already and I never had it slip or fall, I have a 6s and I even put the magnetic disc behind my phone case.
  2. The clip is made from a soft silicon rubber so it will not scratch your vents and stays put without moving.
  3. The magnetic disc is super thin (thiner than other brands) if you put it under the case you won't even notice it.
  4. This is so tiny that it doesn't take any space at all and you never have to take it off as it is basically a 1.5 inch circle, if you are like me and don't like uber like cradles and stuff attached to your windshield or glue residue from the other ones.

The only downside is that it will block the airflow of the vent somewhat when you have the phone attached.

My second choice would be the proclip but that one is around $60.

No question, it's a terrible habit and I'm not proud of it. I don't defend it, I think it's preposterous for anyone to. It's just brought on by the boredom and monotony of a 45 minute, bumper to bumper crawl to work. It's like smoking. There's no good reason for it, people do it anyway.

I purchased the Spigen magnetic air vent mount and it is the best car mount I've ever had. I've had dash stick-ons, CD player inserts, but this one takes the cake and its the cheapest of them all at 8 bucks. Nothing to open or release, just stick your phone on and pull it off. It's super secure and doesn't wobble at all. I haven't tried a crash test yet but it certainly holds up to hard breaking just fine.
