Also, what region/area are you looking for information on?
If you want an entertaining as well as an informative read, try Stalking The Wild Asparagus by Euell Gibbons. A bit less of a purely ID guide, and more about application of what you find, as well as personal accounts that are interesting to read.
Oh and I should mention this one too as it is a guide that is specific to coastal areas.
you're right...
Shelter First should be emphasized for any type of survival, wither it be urban, rural, ocean, or wilderness...
I scream at the TV on some of these "survival" programs; SHELTER FIRST! you fool... naw... these dumb fucks want to build fires and go hunting in the first 48...
you are nothing without shelter...
I watched that show ALONE on the history channel once; and was like: "well this is kind of cool... Inland Passage of British Columbia... lots of wildlife and sea-life... I'd be fucking Euell Gibbons and getting fat as fuck up there... hope them dumbasses know to build a good shelter 'cause it fucking rains all-the-god-damn-time... -5 minutes later- well no shit all the fucking wood is wet you dumb twat- did you build a fucking shelter to dry that shit out...? NO! and that's why you'll fucking die up there... oh you saved some food, bless your heart- dumb fuck! the best place to preserve food is in your goddammned belly you shit sack of bones...!"
well I had to stop watching that fucking train wreck...
u/gorwell1 is right folks... shelter first and fishtraps are more productive...
