Soccer in a Football World is a must read for the entire history of the sport from it's boom in the 1920's until mid-2000s. Finally, we have The Beckham Experiment which covers the story of David Beckham coming to the US and what followed. If I had to pick one of the bunch, go with Soccer in a Football World.
