Not specifically C++, but I would snag a book by Tony Gaddis. I'm using Starting Out with Java right now for an intro to programming course using Java.

I think the book explains programming concepts really well. I refer to it for a second programming course I'm taking as that book does not explain programming concepts very well. It lists the answers for odd questions in the back of the book.

We used this book in my intro CS classes: https://www.amazon.com/Starting-Out-Java-Control-Structures/dp/0133957055

Found it to be really good and full of examples and explanations. You can find the book for free if you search around.

That really depends on your starting point.

I started into Java from basically square one, and would highly recommend this book: https://www.amazon.com/Starting-Out-Java-Control-Structures/dp/0133957055, followed by a text on Data Structures / Algos.

Tony Gaddis's book was my go-to for my intro to java class. You also probably can find a way to not buy it. Use libgen.io
