If you can afford more than $50, I would recommend the Turtle Beach Stealth 350VR. I own these. The audio quality is top-notch and the ear cushions are very comfortable. The headband hurts the top of my head if I wear them too long, but that may vary from person to person.

If those are too expensive, these Plantronics are a nice alternative and just a little over $50 at the moment. I own these as well, but I got them when they were on clearance at Walmart for around $24. The sound quality is not as good as the Turtle Beach ones, but the headband is more comfortable for me.

I use this Headset from Turtle Beach.

The Turtle Beach Stealth 350VR gaming headset delivers Virtual Reality audio loud and clear with battery-powered amplification, Variable Bass Boost and an ergonomic 'built for VR' design that provides clearance for VR headbands and cables.

We just got the Turtle Beach Stealth 350VR for my son's birthday. He loves it. Don't worry about the VR thing if you don't have VR. That's mostly the design of the headband to be a little wider to accommodate VR headsets. But it looks and feels fine using it regularly.

The best thing about it is the mic monitoring. He can hear his own voice (if he wants to) which helps him to figure out how loud the mic is. He's also shouting less which is much nicer for everyone else in the house. The headset is on sale for $60.

I bought these the other day and they sound great and the mic picks up really well.

I almost got those myself, but then I discovered these on sale for less https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01GTL4YSW

Can't vouch for 'em since they haven't come in yet, byt they're reviewed pretty well.

I paid full price for these ($80) because I needed a compatible headset for VR. That and my big ass head don't play very well with a lot of headsets. The padding on the band is nice and comfortable, but what really shines is whatever material they used around the cans. I haven't had a pair of headphones that have felt that good and don't cause irritation when wearing glasses.

They are extremely comfortable and versatile, use them for PS4 (VR and through the DS4), PC, and phone. That being said I used my previous headset for 5+ years so I haven't tested the water much so some of these things could be pretty standard. The amplifier stays charged for a pretty long time (Call it every other time I charge my DS4) and with the input cable being modular I can keep the long PC cable hooked up and swap out for the shorter cable for the DS4 and I can take the mic out if I just want to listen to music or something.

With them currently on sale at Amazon, it's a no brainer in my book.

This is the one I use and it's amazing for the price point. Easily my favourite headset I've used.

I have these and I love them. I use them for all my gaming for over a year now and they're in great shape and the mic always works.

I used these for PSVR and they work great for Rift S too. Plus, they're amplified with a short cable and a bass adjustment and volume wheel of their own so you don't have to open dash to change the volume.

My two tips from my personal research:

    1. Best experience is Over-Ear Headphones that have an AUX wire. This gives you both 3D audio when plugged into helmet AUX, in addition to giving you optimal outside noise cancellation. Gives you the most immersion.
    1. Get headphones with wide gaps along the left and right sides of the band. The PSVR isn't mega thick, but is still confirmed to have broken thinner/less flexible headphones in the past.

Based on those two points, Turtlebeach has made VR-specific headphones that check all the boxes for high quality. The reviews when paired with PSVR are very high, so I ordered some myself.

I was just planning to use a pair of Astro A40 headsets. Always found them to be the most comfortable. I tried researching but are there special adapters needed or do they connect via 3.5 headphone jack?

I see that TB is coming out with their own VR headset as well.
