    About Romer-G Switches

    > It's like MX brown, but with its emphasis on the tactile bump instead of the travel.
    > On MX brown, it feels like they throw in a bump in the middle of a long, linear travel. On Romer G, the bump starts at the very beginning of the travel and takes up the entire first half of the key travel. The bump on Romer G is more pronounced, which does reassemble how rubberdome is all about that bump, but it still has mechanical switch's characteristics of a rather linear travel after the bump, and solid thud when you bottom it and when the key comes back up.
    > It's a good alternative. The keycaps may look silly but imo they didn't just throw them in for the look; they actually do a good job "catching" my less than accurate fingers that would have slide off on regular keycaps. source

Just look somewhere else, buying direct generally means paying a premium price.

Same. I was just going to pop in and ask a quick question instead of making a new thread. If I get something like this or this that comes with a PS/2 adapter will I still be able to use my power-on-by-keyboard bios function? The best answer I've been able to find anywhere is "maybe, try it and find out."

I have this steelseries keyboard, I really like it. I found out later it's the same one the Xbost uses, which explains all the throws I've experienced.

But seriously, A word of advice: get a keyboard that doesn't have a windows key on the left side. A ton of headaches will be solved. Everything else is subjective.

I have been building gaming PCs for a few years and this is what I would change.

I would change the fx6300 + hyper 212 for an fx8320. The 8320 is better for gaming and you can survive a few weeks without overclocking it. It has better performance at stock speeds than the fx6300 does when overclocked.

You can find cheaper ram that performs the same or even better. Like this http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix-PC3-12800-240-Pin-BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00/dp/B006WAGGUK/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1381353096&sr=8-11&keywords=8gb+ddr3

Not sure if you really need 2tb but I guess you do. If you don't switch back to 1TB and get another hard drive when you need it.

You NEED a better power supply. A 8320 when overclocked can reach 300w, the gtx 660 uses at least 120w. That's 420W for a 430w PSU. Too close in my opinion.

I would suggest this as least http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DGHKK7M/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2QJQRG0AYGTMR&coliid=I3ETXWNC8Y71SR

If possible, get this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0092ML0OC/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2QJQRG0AYGTMR&coliid=I1NJMU7VF08WV9

Now, about the "other" stuff. I have a sidewinder keyboard and it's ok but you want to get a mechanical keyboard. I only bought mine because it was really cheap. I got it for like $15.

Getting the mechanical keyboard right now would go over your budget so get a cheap one and get this later http://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-6Gv2-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B008OQTGBQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1381353853&sr=8-2&keywords=steelseries+keyboard

About the mice. As far as I know, only the g400, razer deathadder and the zowie evo2 and FK have no acceleration sensors. I would get any of those.

g400 for palm grip, razer deathadder black edition for palm grip, deathadder 2013 edition for semi-palm / semi-claw grip, Zowie mouses for claw grip.

About the headset, people that know about headphones recommend headphones instead of headsets for gaming. Headsets have overall lower sound quality and it doesn't give you any advantage at all to your performance in gaming.

I would get this headphones with a PCIe asus xonar dg soundcard. You can get the soundcard later if you want, so you can feel the difference better. http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HARX700-Precision-Sound-Headphones/dp/B0013OWPV4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381354267&sr=8-1&keywords=rx700

I think that's it. If you have any doubt, let me know.

Edit: forgot about the case. That rosewill case is fine but it only has 1 frontal intake, no bottom intakes and no 3.0 usb ports. I like this nzxt case a lot because it is very cheap and has everything you could need from a mid tower case. If you can afford the extra $20, get it. http://www.amazon.com/Technologies-Tempest-Steel-Tower-Airflow/dp/B005MMW4DM/ref=sr_1_30?ie=UTF8&qid=1381354467&sr=8-30&keywords=nzxt+case

Well, I found one, sort of. Steelseries G6v2... Reds not Browns, and no macros. I suspect it's been discontinued and they're selling off the last of the stock. You sure you couldn't put up with ANSI or ISO? There's much more choice.

This is the keyboard that I have and I love it. About as close to $50 as you will find in a quality keyboard.

Well, normally I don't have access to a Microcenter, but I'm going to my grandparents' house tomorrow evening and will need something to do before my parents get there Wednesday evening. I'm going with another friend who is also working on his first build.

So, in short, I will have access to Microcenter.

I haven't really done much with overclocking since my cpu is locked. We're both kind of going to be learning as we go.

Currently looking at this Steelseries keyboard. Every review I have seen has been very positive. I watched Linus' video on it and he seemed very pleased with it.

CM Storm has a backlit mech with volume controls as FN keys under $100.

Steelseries 6gv2 no backlight, but has volume control with FN keys and is mechanical. Beware, the key caps are known to fit loosely and come off easily.

There are some Razer Black Widow mechs in that price area.

RK-9000 series are being remodeled with higher quality. I think it was stated that the new models will start a little above $100. So if you waited, you also have to wait for a sale (although they tend to have great sales).

This guy ships out on FEB. 13th

I am currently using SteelSeries 6Gv2 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Red Cherry Switches Edition.

I just wanted a simple keyboard that provide me what I need.

The only thing that I've noticed that can be a problem for you is if you play Arma 3 since the default keybinding to loot stuff on some servers is the left windows key, and there's only one and that's the right one.

Other than that I enjoy it a lot - Simple, works fine, and it's not enormous.

I don't think there's a huge difference between the different colours on the mechanical keyboards after testing most out in a store incase you wonder.
