There’s a reason it is the best selling mouse pad of all time - it’s awesome. Don’t settle.

As low as you can handle and buy a massive mouse pad. I use this one. Aim with your arm more than your wrist. Obviously every character is different e.g. my sens for winston and rein is much higher. But for any aim intensive hero I have it so that a full scroll from my mousepad (L-->R) is just about how far you need to go to do a full 360. It is gonna feel very low at first. Also recommend getting a solid gaming mouse which will let you adjust DPI.

Black to match the rest of the setup.

I have a mousepad question. Looking at getting either the Steelseries XXL https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WAA2704/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Or the Glorious XXL https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NOCZTTI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1DYE0JBXZTW6W

But really, all I want is a giant mousepad. Are these good choices? Are there details I need to watch out for? Does surface type matter? Brands to watch out for/beware of? Any recommendations for pads in this size range?

I'm leaning towards the glorious because I like the 18inch height it has. I'm looking to play mostly Overwatch and DOOM. I also might play some CS GO and Tribes.

QCK XXL for $15.

I have this one and love it. Huge and thicc.

I know exactly what you mean. I have had days where I feel absolutely on fire. Every shot I take lands and my tracking is almost second nature. It just flows so perfectly and without having to focus incredibly hard. Others, I lose track of people while tracking them. I cannot consistently aim for heads and it seems everything I do is just off. Believe me you're not alone in this.

I've been looking into this quite extensively myself. Trying to find exactly what causes my on days to be so good and how to replicate it.

I have found I do play better when I hold higher FPS. I have a 240hz monitor and my PC is capable of running it consistently at 250-300FPS, however, randomly I will run into times where I can only hold 130-190 FPS. I can reboot, and it persists, reboot again, fixed. Completely random. As I do see a decent improvement in my aim if I hold higher FPS this may be partially what is causing the problem.

I have tried energy drinks to see if it is something to do with how awake you are. Results so far have been inconsistent. Too much, too little, just enough, doesn't really seem to effect performance other than if you're too tired or had too much it will adversely effect your performance.

One thing that completely throws off my game that I have identified is my mouse tuning. Logitech and Razer mice have the ability to tune to your mousepad. I find after rebooting it does not always reapply the tune and causes my aim to be off. (This sounds fake but I assure you it is real. Proof). Ensure your mouse is tuned if you have a mouse that can do this. I run 4000eDPI so it is near identical to yours. I would advise you make sure the Enhanced Pointer Precision See Here is off as it is an acceleration tool that effectively destroys your muscle memory and will cause inconsistency in the way you play. Additionally, if your mousepad is worn out or dirty i'd advise replacing it. Steelseries QcK+ XXL or ASUS Sheath are the two i've used and I love them both.

Above all of these, though cliche, I find my attitude and confidence plays the biggest role. If I start the day and kick ass, i'll continue to do so. If I start the day and get my ass kicked, especially if someone starts talking shit. I'll play poorly for the next few hours at least.

In the end I do not know for sure what causes the massive changes in our ability but I know it happens. Please, if you find the answer to this let me know. Below is my Overbuff profile. Feel free to add me on battle.net and message me there or on here if you find anything. Goodluck!

Ok so first off you should be playing on as low sensitivity as you can stand. Do this by ownloading whatever software your mouse uses and changing your DPI to something like 400/500/600.

Then get a ruler or measuring tape and measure your 180 degree turn and make sure it is the same in every game you play (by adjusting sensitivity in game until your 180 turn matches other games) This will help you with muscle memory across games. My 180 turn is exactly 10 inches. This might seem like ridiculously low sensitivity but it's also extremely precise. Csgo pros are often much lower than that even. Get a huge mousepad that covers your desk to have enough room to maneuver. I use this mouse pad and I love it -

Watch this video to make sure you are getting the concept of how to aim with low sensitivity - https://clips.twitch.tv/DullSpeedyWasabiSaltBae your arm should function like your in game neck, snapping from target to target. Once you use your arm to snap to a target, you then flick with your wrist to stay on target/fine adjust to their head.

I hope that helps. Even if getting a huge mousepad and going low sensitivity feels weird at first I really urge you to go through with it. I was pc gaming for more than a decade before relearning everything at low sensitivity and I improved like 500%!

Good luck!

Ahhh, watching the vid, I was thinking you might've gone even lower than that, but I guess it's more that you're used to smaller mouse movements. I play at 800x2.0 and I sometimes consider going even lower. It definitely takes having a bunch of desk space cleared, though. :P

I have this absurd mousepad, with my keyboard sitting on half of it and my mouse using the other half.

My recommendation is build in monitor arms that pass through cables to the underside of the desk and have a grommet near the rear of where the PC will end up.

I use one of these

They have built in cable management channels that will hide cables cleaning up the look and mount into grommet holes.

Next, mount a power strip on the underside that has a long enough cord so you can run a single power cable to the wall and manage the additional cables on the underside of the desk.

You should also plan out what you want to do for a PC case, do you want a showcase build that you look at, or do you want it hidden. Based on the "gaming desk" ask I am going to assume you want more of a showcase build. In that instance, the PC will be off to the right to give you a view of all the RGB goodness so leave enough room to still sit ergonomicly straight on to your center monitor and full range of movement for your mouse. XXL mouse mats are awesome too.

I like the Steel Series Mouse pads, and they have like different sizes like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-XXL-Gaming-Mouse-67500/dp/B00WAA2704/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474433192&sr=8-1&keywords=steelseries+mouse+pad+xl
but i hope you find one that pertains to you since there are many mouse pads out there :)

QcK+

Im a CSGO player and I love it. used to have the non + which was too small. the + is about right for my 800dpi 1.45sens

https://www.amazon.co.uk/SteelSeries-Gaming-Rubber-Optical-Compatible/dp/B000UVRU6G/

they also have larger ones which go over the whole table like the XXL

900mmx400mm

u/Jaffythethird · 2 pointsr/battlestations

I use this SteelSeries Mousepad, and I absolutely love it 100%. It's high quality, has a great feel, and is the perfect thickness for me. For your setup, I'm actually thinking you could rock an XL pad that goes under both your mouse and keyboard. While SteelSeries does have a couple basic XL and XXL mousepads, you could always get a Corsair pad, or go and get yourself something RGB. Totally see where you're coming from in terms of not finding any that you like. I know that you can probably get one custom made, or something with a design that complements your case/controller color schemes. Just a couple ideas to get you started, but I feel like it will end up being a simple, yet highly impactful, addition to your setup.

I have a qck+ large which I've been using for around 3 years now and has held up pretty well. I really like these mouse pads and it is the all time lowest price for this one at Amazon

u/FcoEnriquePerez · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Wish it was the XXL.

If you like me, prefer bigger ones, QcK is one of the best, it's $24.

Unless you have a very odd surface on your table, yes it is a huge hinderance. Invest in a nice large mouse pad, it doesn't even have to be that expensive. https://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-XXL-Gaming-Mouse-67500/dp/B00WAA2704 https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LWL80R2/ref=dp_ob_neva_mobile?th=1&psc=1

u/DeadRos3 · 1 pointr/battlestations

yeah I play with 800 DPI and low sens in most games (.86 in CS:GO) and I use almost an entire really big stealseries mouse pad. I would probably go insane using that setup.

u/BLU3_2_U · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

This is the best option I could find that might be big enough for you. https://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-XXL-Gaming-Mouse-67500/dp/B00WAA2704/ref=

The other option is that you could DIY the purple border with an LED strip or something with purple fabric (probably need some sewing or w/e the proper term is for the later).

The reaction time and your eyes will likely be able to adjust. I say keep working at it and let me know how your experience goes. I’m curious to see if you can overcome the gap you face with it.

I’ll link you some mousepads that I’d personally use below

https://www.amazon.ca/SteelSeries-QcK-Gaming-Mouse-Pad-Black/dp/B000UVRU6G/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1538937378&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=large%2Bmouse%2Bpad&dpPl=1&dpID=315kwa51AFL&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1

Or

One should be large, and one XXL. I use the XXL one now. My keyboard rests on a good portion of it and I have a lot of room for my mouse. The links look the same to me so it may not have pasted correctly.

On the note about gameplay, send me one game worth. I’m happy to do others in future sessions if you find them valuable (this is the format I offer for folks when I stream the gameplay reviews).
