For Syrians, I'd say bare minimum floor space is 650 sq. inches, but larger is always better (some countries recommend twice that). If you're in the U.S., it's virtually impossible to find a large enough cage, so many people go the DIY route using bins or other creative options. For example, using the IKEA Detolf will provide 1,082 sq inches of floor space (and is cheaper than most large cages anyway).

Rather than getting a hamster ball, it's generally preferable to hamster-proof a room (or block off part of a room) and allow them free-roaming time as often as you can. It's great exercise, lets them explore, and presents an opportunity for you to have fun interactions (let them run around and tire themselves out first, though).
A great wheel 11inch, very quiet. The front comes off for easy cleaning. Can be hung upside down if needed (mine is upside down because wheel stands don't work great in deep bedding).
One is 11 inches the other is 9. My male Syrian is fairly small so the 9 is great and silent with a weighted bottom that can sit on top of the bedding.

Of course you have to get the correct size for the type of hamster and cage.
My Hamsters loved it and where never in danger of injury.
One downside is, that you will have to clean it on a regular basis if your hamster pees in it a lot.

With the wheel I would just watch. If his back is bend while running then you should get a bigger one, otherwise it's fone. As for the sunflower head:not really. Any dried sunflower head should do. You should be able to get them from your local pet store in the aisle for birds. Oh and if your already there, grab some flax. Trust me, your hamster will go crazy for it. It's like cat mint, only that it's hamsters favourite snack xD

Yes it says it's for sugar gliders but my two girls love it and can easily run on it, unless there is bedding underneath so we usually have to put the wheel down first and then fill tank with bedding but they use it just fine! & I like it also
