Definitely get Super Mario 3D World, as well as Donkey Kong. Both fantastic games.

You're best game value for $60 is Mario Kart 8. Get it at Target this week, have them Price match Amazon's price of ~$48 then [pre-order any game for $1 for a $15 discount on Mario Kart 8]

Then if you really want to spend the extra ~$25 Target has Monster Hunter 3 for $30 or Wonderful 101 for $23 or you can grab a White pro controller from Best Buy for $30 this week (or Target as they'll price match) so you can play multiplayer Mario Kart.

THEN If you get Pikmin 3 as your free game you'll get $5 in eShop credit and there's a fair number of games in the $5 range. Have fun!

EDIT: NES games are $5 and there's a few Indie games in that range too:

Surprisingly Pikmin 3 is the most, but $39 isn't bad for a new release and all are under the $59 price point. I use Amazon for the going rate because who in their right mind would pay $59.99 at walmart or best buy for something they can get from Amazon with free shipping and no tax for less?

He could have bought the games on discount from Toys R Us which has many discounted games plus buy one get one 60% off.

Also could have gotten the buy 2 get 1 free at Target a week ago. YOu could also price match that sale, all though many stores were hesitant to do that.

Super Mario 3D World

It's pretty long, it has a lot of tough bonus levels and I'm not one to 100% games but this is one that is fun to try it with! Tons of replay value and its also fun with friends.

Pikmin 3 is nice also... but you could get a few games like Mass Effect 3, Assassins Creed IV, and Monster Hunter for like $50 total.
