This beast is still sold and rather affordably as well. I'd be interested to hear how it works for you. I've considered buying it to backup game saves before replacing my aging batteries.

Behemoth uses a Wii.

They should be identical in most regards. Though I haven't seen any test for it, I'd have to imagine that a wireless Wii controller would introduce some input lag, probably no more than the emulator you already use though. Given the main reason to switch to console in the first place is to eliminate that lag.

That aside the Wii version would be quite a bit cheaper as a cart typically runs $40+ USD. If you intend to use save states for practice, the Wii will have you covered, of course. For SNES you'd need to pick up either a Nakitek Game Saver (cheap option), or an SD2Snes or Super Everdrive and load up a practice ROM.

Then the next cheapest adapter option that requires no modification at all is a Nakitek Game Saver + which will also allows you to save state your games. Alternative adapters would include the Innovation Super 8 (NES/Famicom adapter) and the Super UFO Pro 8 (an SD card based flash cartridge based on the old floppy disk copiers), but for the price that those two are going for these days, it would be much cheaper to get a SFC.

I strongly encourage you replace the battery in the cartridge but you can also get this accessory that can save your progress. It only saves your progress for one game, though.

Which console's everdrive were you thinking of getting? The SNES has a device called a Nakitek Game Saver, which is relatively cheap and allows you to create save states on games. It's a neat tool.
