/u/Cainlayder We purchased the exact boxes. Have had a few issues with them.
The mobo takes DDR3 and it has a single power supply. I also recommend moving one of the fans to the left side of the server, the southbridge gets super fucking hot and will cause the fans to act sporadic. I found that by moving 1 of the fans over provides enough air flow to keep the southbridge cold and the cpu's cold too.
The server isn't too loud if you change the fan from balanced to low. It's still loud but not something your neighbors will hear.

I just bought a few bags of the Supermicro screws off Amazon. They're like $7/100 and they work with everything I've ever tried them with.
Search for this part number from Supermicro: MCP-410-00005-0N They should be the same screws needed for dell caddies, assuming dell uses the same 6-32 flat head everyone else uses.
Okay sir, I'm home!

Total $1318 for a 16CPU core/32 core hyperthreaded server with 64gig of ECC ram capable of supporting 24 drives in bays and a few more inside if I was crazy. It "should" be quiet, I'll know when the new PSU shows up and can update but I've been informed by others.. Right now it's about 58db all from the PSU <ahem>.
If you were to just buy the chassis I did, the SAS cards, the fans, the heatsinks, the cables, and the PSU, you would be able to do this for about half what I did. It would be fewer cores and perhaps slower by some margin but for an unRAID box it would be damn nice with lots of room for drives. If you shop around you might even be able to do it cheaper than I did! I almost bought ten core CPU btw, they would've been another $140 together lol
Hope that helps, fire away with questions if you've got them. This is basically a /u/JDM_WAAAT system and I got plenty of advice from the Discord channel on it and from his Youtube videos.
Yeah, they're both hardware stores. Is there anything special about the screws you need or are they just standard HDD screws? If just standard HDD screws, you can get them on Amazon
I think this might be what you're looking for.
These should work for 2.5" drives (at least according to the info)
