I use this bag. Can store a laptop along with a few notebooks and textbooks and many pockets for pens, pencils, electronics. I've been looking for something more "elegant" i guess you could say but I haven't found much and I'm content with this bag.

[Get this backpack] (http://www.amazon.com/SwissGear-Travel-Gear-ScanSmart-Backpack/dp/B006HFJA12/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1406245126&sr=8-2&keywords=swiss+army+backpack) I have had this backpack for 5 Years, no wear and tear yet! It has stood up to so much, and has a laptop section, and has protected mine from many things! So worth the money! You won't be disappointed!

Here's mine.

Been using it for about 2 years now. Probably the best travel bag I've ever bought.

u/Beachbum2634 · 3 pointsr/sysadmin

+1 for Swiss. This is the one I have. It has a rear section for laptop, slots for tablets and a big/wide middle section that will fit all sorts of stuff.

u/MDizzy95 · 2 pointsr/LawSchoolClassof2022

my other bags have been on the smaller side and don't fit my new laptop, so I went to amazon.
I saw in a few places the SwissGear bags were recommended. So I bought this one!

I have both, the sleeve is great if all you need is the laptop and a few very small items. The bag is the everyday carry for a normal work day when i need a charger, spare battery, cables, and assorted adapters. I'm on the road a lot traveling between 13 locations so you just never know what you might need. If it's just going to be a home to office kind of day, then definitely just the sleeve.

Lenovo Slim Sleeve (not really all that slim when it's holding a P52s with a 61++ battery)

$1,668 Full solution with Skylake i7, 16GB, GTX 960 + laptop.

For the argument of mac to PC: buying a single MacBook Pro for college is expensive and can bring hassles, especially when you get into the software the college expects you to use. The college may expect you to use Microsoft Office for the most part and it can be used on Mac, but it's not as robust as on Windows. Some software is provided with the expectation that all students have Windows in some classes. Using Windows from within Mac OS will require software like VMWare Fusion VirtualBox or Parallels Desktop.

While Macs are less prone to getting viruses, they are definitely not exempt from all malicious software and unexpected issues.

You can get two good computers and have a lot more versatility with a Windows Desktop + Laptop.

If you're going to college, I dont recommend placing absolutely everything you do into a single machine that you take with you everywhere. College doesn't slow down while your computer is being fixed and they don't care that your data is lost if it was stored on one computer.

If it gets stolen, anything spilled on it, gets overheated in your bag, dropped, crushed or for whatever reason, you do not want all of your work to be on that one single laptop.

Buy a workstation for home use and then buy a decent laptop to take with you. I have gone through the research and put together a solution for both your production machine and your mobile laptop for a total of $1,668 (monitor, keyboard, mouse not included).

If you feel like building your own system, I came up with a build using an i7-6700 processor, a GTX 960 for some video power and not too over the top, 16GB memory, all for around $1150 from Newegg.

It has two 1TB hard drives. They can be set up as mirrored drives so you have your data and OS stored on both. If one goes bad, just take it out, use the good one and replace the bad drive, no data loss. You could add an SSD as well and still be under the $2,000 budget.

You can also just use one drive as the primary drive while Windows backs up your important data to the second hard drive with version history. If you deleted or edited a file, you can retrieve it from the other drive fairly easily.

I included a wireless card if you need wifi.

First, here's the laptop I recommend (on sale $514 from 900+)

I've been carrying A SwissGear 1900 for just over 4 years while bike commuting 5 days per week for 3 of them plus weekend trips around town and to the beach. It has plenty of room for all the items you listed and the many pockets allowed me to keep things separated so I always had quick access to keys, glasses, business cards, etc. The laptop area easily fits a 13" or 15" and keeps it safe from damage (including minor crashes where I landed on my back on concrete). I live in an area with frequent rain and never had a leak inside the pack and it still looks as good as the day I bought it. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B006HFJA12/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've got a this Swiss army backpack that I've been using for years and it's held up really well. Normally I'm hauling around a laptop, a tablet or two, and a bunch of things for work. My only concern might be the overall space for really thick college text books, but I think it could likely handle them.

Hi there, here are some options:

4 - I have it and don't think it's that bulky

Hope you find what you’re looking for :)

I use this one.

The older bag isn't a backpack. Just a shoulder bag that I slip into my much larger CamelBak backpack when I take it instead.

u/nevernewagain · 1 pointr/Advice

Of those three, I'd go with the Patagonia, but really, those are all insufficient. This is the one I have. Comfy shoulder straps, lots of pockets, organizer for all your little stuff (pens, lip balm, etc.). I've replaced my backpack twice since I started college because I realized I made a bad choice with my first one. Second one was better but still not great. This one is perfect.

It is just a normal swiss backpack. I said work backpack to seperate it from a camera backpack. It is this backpack:

www.amazon.com/SwissGear-Travel-Gear-ScanSmart-Backpack/dp/B006HFJA12/

It is designed to fit into an overhead comparment and I have taken it on many flights. I've never used the weird unzip mechanism in a security line, but its a good bag.

I put my camera in a small bag inside the backpack to keep everything organized and clean. A couple large zipploc bags work. Or you can get fancy and make/buy a camera insert.
