I'm not judging, but did you really spend $15,000+ on this set up? 16 x 2TB 850 Pro go for $13k, then the NAS's...

In any case, someone can correct me if I am wrong, but the most you would be able to do is enable High Availability. This would basically make one a redundant backup to the other. This does NOT double your capacity.

The DX513 is what Synology designed expansion for. but it is limited to 2, so with the DS1815+ and two DX513, you are limited to 13 bays:

I am sorry, but question the need for all SSD's in your setup. I don't think you will ever see the benefit of those sweet 850 pros at this level of consumer grade NAS.

I would love to know what you are planning to do with this setup. It might help me, and others, find other solutions to this that you can work with.
