Welcome then! Don't worry about it, we've all been where you are...

I would like to suggest you to read instead looking for practical videos or walkthroughs, because, in general good books tend to be wider. With wider I mean that they are better to let you understand what's happening, why it's happening and what is the ratio behind it.

This doesn't mean that I'm against videos which, in some way can help you out, but in my humble opinion books are a lot more useful, even if, of course studying sometimes can be frustrating due to the amount of time needed.

Anyway, my suggestion is to start with this book:

" The Basics of Hacking and Penetration Testing: Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing Made Easy" by Patrick Engebretson - It gives you an all around knowledge about penetration testing and ethical hacking. After reading it you will find yourself understanding where to look at, or at least you will be able to choose where to move on...
