All of these books and articles will reference scripture and bring scripture into your understanding. I'm not sure if those questions will be answered directly, but the more and more you understand about how scripture shows PSA, the more you will be able to answer those objections yourself.

The book The Cross of Christ by Anglican priest John Stott really details the earliest forms of worship by Christians and it included crosses and the sign of the cross.
