Are you telling me you don't know anything about the deaconesses in the eastern church? Why in the world are you trying to discuss this with me then? You definitely need to hit Google. Read this. Chapter 19 of this book also has a nice discussion. I haven't read this book, but I found it in looking around and I am going to buy it.
The deacon is not at all connected to the OT priesthood, even to the limited degree that NT elders were.
