Small world. I'm just starting to get involved with Docker myself, and I use a Mac for all my work. I just grabbed a copy of this book yesterday, and am reading it now. I'm at the point where it goes into detail in installing Docker, and it provides detailed instructions for getting up and running on RHEL/Centos linux, Ubuntu/Debian linux, OS/X, and Windows. I'm on a 2014 Mackbook with 16GB RAM, so you shouldn't have any issues with it.
