My husband and I came pretty close to divorcing over a similar thing. He didn't believe me for over a year. He just didn't get it, even when the doctors tried to explain. We had been through several nasty fights with a lot of screaming, and I told him I was going to leave because I felt alone anyway. Somehow that inspired him to pick up the book and read it. Seeing the things I had tried to tell him, in print, somehow made it stick. I really think that book is the only reason we are still married. He gets it now. We are a lot happier.
