I know they say don't judge a book by the cover but I wish they still produced the old Murakami cover art. The new editions are so ugly. Love this book and many of his other ones.
The Elephant Vanishes by Haruki Murakami. His short stories are bizarre and wonderful.
oh, also: The Elephant Vanishes. Amazing collection of short stories (which usually aren't my thing).
Haruki Murakami is excellent, though I don't know if it's Middle School material. Still, I'd suggest picking up his collection The Elephant Vanishes and seeing what you like, if only for yourself.
