Very cool. You might be interested in a book that just came out about the women who worked at the Oak Ridge facility. It has gotten very good reviews.

If she worked for Tennessee Eastman I believe that means she worked at the Y-12 facility there, as they were the contractors there. Y-12 was one of the many facilities that worked in sequence to produce high-enriched uranium for use in the "Little Boy" bomb dropped on Hiroshima.

I started The Girls of Atomic City last night and....I'm holding judgement for right now. I'm thinking it'll be a book that I skip chapters of and just read the good bits, but we'll see.

I was just reading one about the Manhattan Project - The Girls of Atomic City. It's aiming to tell the story of the women involved, but it doesn't focus solely (or even mostly) on that. I learned a lot about the discovery of fission, the different processes they were using to get the isotopes they needed, how they kept it all confidential, the massive secret city they built... it was a really interesting read.
