There are many, many contradictions in the New Testament explained in The Gospel of Thomas (the Younger). Here are two in a single footnote (#48):

In 1 Corinthians 15:5, Paul tells us the risen Jesus appeared to “the Twelve.” Acts 1 tells us the election of a disciple to fill the spot of the late Judas Iscariot occurred after the Ascension when Jesus left the earth. Paul must not have believed the Judas he mentions here was one of the Twelve, for then there would only have been eleven at the time of the resurrection appearances. Scholars have long doubted the existence of this Judas Iscariot. Paul never mentions him by name in any of his letters, the earliest of all extant Christian writings. And then there is the dispute between Luke (Acts 1:18) and Matthew (27:5) over how Iscariot died (spontaneous intestinal explosion versus hanging himself). It seems more likely he is a creation of storytellers..
