Interesting. The opening setup is almost a duplicate of Skyler Grant's The Laboratory, except the main character isn't a GLaDOS expy.
I think Seiple is likely to do a better job with the story tho, given how well Dire and Threadbare turned out; Emma kinda falls flat after the second book.

This exists, and I'm through book 6's audiobook, but I can't say it's exactly good. It's readable and fits what you want, though. The entire premise is about upgrading things/people/everything, and every book is basically the next tier of struggle. The main character is an AI like GLaDOS (from Portal), and follows her and those she manages to capture/test/befriend.
