I kind of co-wrote one. Won't turn you into an armchair lawyer by any means--or, rather, being one of those is a bad idea and you shouldn't want to be one--but it should give you a very basic crash course in most of the major topics in the American legal system. Thirteen chapters, each on a major subject heading, all explained using comic books. It's not systematic by any means, but it should at least be entertaining.
Nice, congrats! I recommend reading The Law of Superheroes. It explains all the real world legal issues that superheroes would encounter.
Chester Porter QC has two books which I'd highly recommend
Also highly recommend The Law of Superheroes because it's funny and insightful.
Tangentially related to this is Law and the Multiverse, a blog about the legal issues faced in sci-fi and fantasy. (For example, what effect does Professor X's mind-reading power have on the Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination?)
Apparently they have a book, too!
I'm a sucker for legal stuff. I don't know if it's a resource you know about, but The Law of Superheroes is a great resource, as is Law and the Multiverse, the blog that spawned the book.
I just got this book by the same guys who run this blog, it's a very interesting read so far.
