The Letters of John and Abigail Adams is a good one to start with IMO. Careful, it's an Amazon link, in case you don't want that added to your recommended algorithm. It, as well others like it, are also available in the play store, but I believe there's an entire archive of letters publicly maintained, though I forgot the URL. Most of all, I'd recommend hitting up a book store or library and just browsing the History section for letters, correspondence or travel diaries. Even things from the 12th Century or older can have pretty reliable translations. The one I linked is a really easy read though, and I think a good starting point.
From the letters that Abigail wrote Jefferson, I do not think she was a Republican.
