If you want a single example, how about the fact that Pontius Pilate was a real historical character who was in the right region at the right time.

I don't think the bible is a terribly accurate book, but you'd have to be an idiot to claim it's not actually ancient. And any part of it based on reality will, by definition, be a real historical record.
