This super sucks. The antibiotic they gave you for the UTI caused the yeast infection, definitely. I'm sorry. Some ladies just get in the infection cycle and regular pharma can't kick it. I spent my 20s pretty much with a constant infection until a new GYN turned me on to boric acid suppositories and essential oils. If your doctor's only solution is just more pills, definitely see if either or both of these help break the cycle.

Oh man! Yeah, you may be one of those lucky girls who automatically get a yeast infection when she's placed on antibiotics. The antibiotics disrupt our "environment" and while they solve one issue, they cause another! For a long time when my doctor prescribed me an antibiotic, I went ahead and got her to write the script for Diflucan.

Since this is your first, then you may not need to go this route, but if you find you are one of the lucky ones to get recurring infections, then (as someone else suggested) definitely use boric acid suppositories to prevent/treat. I pretty much lived with infections for my entire 20s until I got a new GYN that was more open to non-Western/pharma options and she introduced me to boric acid AND essential oils. If you feel like the OTC cream isn't giving you relief, maybe check out this essential oil blend. It smells mostly like lemons, which honestly I'm not the biggest fan of, but it has a nice cooling, soothing effect. And since it's oil, it's not as messy as those creams.

Hope you get better soon!

Absolutely howling at your summary.

I recommend trying yoni oil: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076BZR74J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_l-9zDbJPDARTX

Just one spray to take the (b)itch away. But seriously, it’s magic — I get itchy skin everywhere from heat (prickling sensations) but one can’t scratch one’s hooha in public so I use this!

If you're interested in the "natural" route this feminine spray says it's good for post-partum lady bits and is meant to treat infections, so maybe that's an option? (if you're interested in not going the pharma route)
