You know what, if an elderly person owned and used a Password Journal correctly, then yes, they have a way better technique. If you're a millennial with a grandparent that keeps bad password, get them one of these, or just a damn black composition notebook. And a sticky note that says "pick four different words from the dictionary for each new password" on the front.
