There was a comic book series in the 90s, thats collected in trade paperbacks and hardcovers - this is volume 1

It’s also collected in absolute editions (oversized) and omnibus (big fat books with more comics in them but in my opinion harder to read comfortably)
Other Sandman comics include a spinoff about his sister Death (Death: The high cost of living), an anthology called Endless nights, and two recent series: sandman overture and sandman universe. But definitely start at the beginning.

Neil Gaiman is my all time favorite comic writer. If she’s never read his masterpiece ‘The Sandman’ giving her the first volume in the collection would be an awesome gift.
