It does seem that the Osirians may have been foreigners who brough Osiris with them. The foreigner aspect of the story will be addressed further, I just didn't know how to extend this part without it ending up too long. Here are some of the best sources.

The Seven Faces of Darkness by Don Webb is very good for starting off, there's a bunch of simple rites and ceremonies. If you like Grant definitely get The Simon Necronomicon, there's tons of stuff in there as far as rites or ceremonies.
