Got into this to save money, I shave in the shower with a fog free mirror and use a 1946 gillette ball end tech.
Moisturize with Nivea Post Shave Balm afterwards but really nothing fancy. Nothing worthy of a SOTD post. But still wanted to share how much I've saved compared to disposables.
Get a fogless shaving mirror. There are two types I'd recommend:
The advantage of the former design is it lasts for longer. You can just fill the compartment and get your entire shave done. The disadvantage is it is heavier so if you lack a shelf in your shower at head height, you'll have to use those idiotic suction cups which never stay stuck.
The advantage of the latter design is that it is lighter, thus a suction cup can hold it, and it won't damage your feet if it falls. The disadvantage is that you might need to re-heat it twice or more times for a shave.
PS - And the people saying "use nothing" I have no idea how they do the spot where their hairline meets their beard on their sideburns.

Oh my god, all of this. Easier for shaving other areas too, or seeing if you missed a spot while washing yourself.
This is what I have. And it isn't even expensive.
I got one that is very thin, so that you can hold it under the hot water stream for a second, it heats up the (plastic) mirror, and then no fog. Only problem is I have hard water, so I get hard water stains on the mirror, which over time, is just as bad.

The hook that comes with it is ok, but I had to replace with a command hook after a few months.

I store my Muhle silvertip synthetic brush and soap container on the top shelf of my shower caddy and my razors on the other on the other end of the tub higher up on the wall using a tooth brush holder like [this] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000SQPEZW/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) right next to a fog free mirror also held by a suction cup. Works great, no rust issues on the Weber or Edwin Jagger DE86bl/Maggard MR6B frankenrazor. Some rust issues on the ikon standard head, but that's because it really hugs the blade close and has no openings in the base plate to air it out.
You end up combating fog on the mirror. I went with this "fogless" that you run under HOT water just before you shave. By heating it, you discourage steaming.
In Amazon's shower mirror section I saw a larger ones, one that uses 3M Command hooks instead of regular adhesive, and one with a squeegee. But I didn't find the one I read about in this sub that you filled the back with hot water. The poster said it held off steam better than anything else he'd tried.
Instead of hopping out of the shower, have you thought about getting a shower mirror? I got this one on Amazon for my fiance so he could shave his beard without shedding all over the sink (eew). I use it a lot, especially now that I'm trying to take really good care of my hair and experimenting with different techniques. You have to heat it up a bit so it doesn't fog--I usually stick it under the sink faucet with really hot water for 30 seconds or so before using it.
Yea, shaving in the shower is the superior way to shave. I have never used shaving creams, cause I have never needed it when shaving that way. A lot of money getting saved that way.
One thing though, you gotta get yourself one those shaving mirrors for the shower which don't fog as easily (like this one: http://www.amzn.com/B0085WHBHU). It improved my shaving experience a lot when I got one of those.

It works be running it under the hot water for a second or two - I end up holding it in my hand while I shave, and rinsing it and the razor at the same time. That way I can hold at funny angle too.

I go by feel as well.. I usually use the mirror to check for spots I missed.
I believe that's this mirror. I actually just got one earlier today. Haven't been able to use it yet, but you run it under warm water to heat it up, then it won't form condensation since it's not cooler than the water vapour.
You look fine, brother. For me, I've just replaced shampooing with shaving in the shower. It takes a couple extra minutes, but you get used to it. As far as missing spots, you can usually tell by touch. I personally own one of these to help with the front and sides. (especially that nook above the ears)
