Just read the article I linked to, you'll understand why google+ is not just a facebook clone. Seriously; it's a long article but totally worth it. You might also need to read and understand this book to know what they're working towards.

Google basically knows that technology will take over and all humans will be linked together in some form of hive-mind in the future. They're working towards making such a thing reality, but they can't tell us that because people who can barely use computers wouldn't understand and would be scared shitless.

If you liked the article, I would recommend reading Ray Kurzweil's - The Singularity is Near which goes a bit more in depth but is really interesting to read too.

> Oh, you're one of those Singularity nutjobs.

And you're a luddite. The difference is that the world actually does laugh at luddites. Like how we laugh at our parents and grandparents who said "I hate computers" and "I'll never get a cell phone" ten years ago. Fast forward a decade, and the kid subsisting on two dollars a day in the Mumbai slums has a smartphone, and anyone who isn't online can't even function in our society anymore.

You might think you're a genius for coming up with your little list of objections, but I'm afraid we've gotten all of those before - and they are all addressed, explained, and rebutted exhaustively.

It's therefore obvious that you haven't actually read any of the literature that you're criticizing. So instead of arguing with you, I'll simply send you away to do some homework. Prior to dispelling your own ignorance, it would probably be a good idea to keep your uninformed thoughts to yourself.

The Singularity is Near by Ray Kurzweil. It's about the advancement of technology and how said advancement is exponential not linear.

As anyone in the IT field will tell you, the CPU is not the only thing that gets upgraded in a computer. The reason a 5 year old computer is not as helpful as a new computer is because technology has progressed heavily in the last 5 years.

A great book about the advancement of technology. A wonderful statement to it's own thesis is how dated a 5 year old book can read.

Lol. No. Google for the "singularity". Also, the best book on the subject: http://www.amazon.com/The-Singularity-Is-Near-Transcend/dp/0670033847

Unless you're the author of this book, stop acting as if you came up with the idea please.
