I suggest this travel mug.

It was much more expensive back when I bought it. Nearly 50 dollars. It really will keep your liquids hot for 5+ hours. If I fill this thing with hot tea/coffee immediately after brewed, the liquid will stay too hot too drink for 2 or 3 hours. It's ridiculous.

The only downside is the lid is a bitch to clean. It breaks down into way too many small and confusing parts.

Here's Amazon's top-rated travel mug: the Thermos Stainless King SK1005MB4 - reading through the comments, it really does seem to be exceptional at containing coffee.

u/butterandcork · 8 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I've had this Thermos for a few years now. I like it because it keeps your drink hot/cold and also has a leak proof lid.

Just purchased a Thermos 16-ounce Stainless Steel Tumblr off of Amazon. Made out of rock, and keeps liquids hot for hours on end. http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B002PY7AYS/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_qSzrtb1R5QHHZ

u/davestar · 5 pointsr/Coffee

yup. i have the Thermos Sipp and the Thermos King, both of which i prefer to the Contigo mugs.

u/kallell · 5 pointsr/keto

I think part of the issue here is you are having five or six coffees per day...That's pretty intense. Any reason in particular you have to swig so much?

Also, why not try black coffee? I hated it at first, but now I prefer it to anything else - I drink it daily. Make sure it's hot, just under the point where you can't handle it and just sip it for a few hours in a thermos http://www.amazon.com/Thermos-Stainless-16-Ounce-Tumbler-Midnight/dp/B002PY7AYS/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1398777122&sr=8-7&keywords=thermos. It will keep it hot literally all day if you want, but i find i can sip it in the morning from about 7:30-11. If you want good tasting coffee (black) suggestions, i recommend mcdonalds or pick up a bag of dunken doughnuts morning blend.

I have this Thermos mug and it's amazing. Has anyone compared the Zojirushi and this?

u/Xraygoggles · 3 pointsr/Coffee

I think this is a milestone hurdle in any coffee quest. I went through a bunch of coffee mugs trying to find the one for me. Here's a few things that I ran into, and my final decision in a neatorama bullet point list:

  • They will always be bigger than they look online
  • The Contigo is amazing but a pain in the butt to clean
  • You get the best length of heat and spill proof from the screw on top kind, but they aren't easy to drink "on the go"
  • Handles are LOL at first, but sometimes very useful and dignified

Anyway, I submit for your approval, my "perfect" travel mug. At least until something better comes along. Bask it in.

I use this everyday, it's amazing to me. Keeps coffee hot for hours and makes an awesome "thuk" when you release the heat compression. 100% spillproof, with one small caveat. Sometimes a drop or two will stay past the seal point when you take a sip. Not a problem, just want to give you all sides. Super duper easy to clean as it divides totally down into component pieces so you can be a weekend warrior and pretend you're breaking down your rifle. There's an awesome indention all the way around that you can use to customize the mug. I wrapped mine with the guts from a piece of 550 cord and threw a S-biner on it and it looks awesome. I would very seriously consider weaving a friendship bracelet to wrap it up with, I like it so much.

No matter which mug you buy, always pre-warm with hot water to keep coffee hot almost indefinately.

    Keep me posted!

    tl;dr Buy This one

This is the best Thermos I've ever owned. I have two. The lid comes apart for cleaning to avoid that funky old coffee smell, no leaking and stuff stays hot or cold for a long time.

u/jim51riffe · 3 pointsr/EDC
u/scorcher11 · 3 pointsr/Coffee

I use this cup and my coffee almost always stays hot until I finish it. Same size (16 Oz.) but you drink right out of the thermos. It doesn't stay hot quite as long as the "thermos bottle" version, but it is long enough. It never leaks when closed, either. I carry it in my coat pocket or toss it in a bag all the time. I love mine.

u/uberBored · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

This Guy. Small enough to fit in my tank bag, holds plenty of coffee to get me through the morning, and will keep it warm until the end of the day if kept closed.

u/boppop · 2 pointsr/LawSchool
u/-dikki · 2 pointsr/bicycling

I bought this Thermos travel mug a few years ago and have never looked back. Keeps my coffee steaming hot for hours, never leaks, and looks pretty good too!

u/doopdoop9 · 2 pointsr/Coffee

Good info! I've decided to get a Contigo or this

http://www.amazon.com/Thermos-Stainless-16-Ounce-Leak-Proof-Midnight/dp/B002PY7AYS/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=1RKOBCCXN5TY3&coliid=I3L8NSD7EJ4873

They both seem well rated. When you say shiny, that means I should have a cup made of metal...like steel?

u/nerdybirdie · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Not entering, but THIS FOTHA MUCKA RIGHT HERE is a must!!! It will keep your coffee/tea TONGUE BLISTERING HOT for hours, unless you put it in at a reasonable temperature, in which case it will keep your coffee/tea AT A REASONABLE TEMPERATURE for hours! Mine has kept ice in its original shape for over 12 hours. Seriously. This thing is the shit. AND it seals so you don't have to worry about leakage on that bike ride to campus.

u/Sokathhiseyesuncovrd · 2 pointsr/personalfinance

You should try a Thermos travel mug! It far exceeds the Contigo in performance. Beverages stay piping hot for HOURS (3-4). The Contigo gradually cools off in about an hour.

I just realized that this performance is without utilizing their pre-chill/pre-heat suggestion, which makes sense. I could even run a batch of hot water directly from my Keurig into my mug before making my coffee.

BTW, on my old-style Keurig, I use the middle cup + smallest cup to fill this. Largest cup + smallest overflows. I use the same pod for both brews; I don't think it's too weak if you're using a strong coffee to begin with.

u/deAdupchowder350 · 2 pointsr/Coffee

I love this guy. I accidentally left him on the top of my car, took off and and he flew right off! A few scratches and a bump I undid with a hammer but he's still sexy. Also, these vacuum guys almost work too well. After years of getting used to Newton's Law of Cooling, I'm always surprised when my coffee maintains its temperature.

u/dangerllama · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

Interesting that Amazon apparently has a category called "Commuter & Travel Mugs"…and also a category called "Travel & To-Go Drinkware." The Zojirushi is #1 in the former, and the Thermos Stainless 16-oz is king of the later category. One wonders how many other travel/mug categories there are.

I own 16-oz thermos and really like it with two exceptions: The finish is wearing off the top of the mug, exposing the stainless steel beneath. And the bottom of the mug is smaller than a lot of modern car cupholders, meaning the thing is prone to tipping back and forth in cupholders that don't have one of those springy tensioner mechanisms. Luckily it's highly spill-resistant (It's been sideways in my passenger seat before without issue), so the tipping isn't really a big deal. You could honestly keep this thing sideways in the car seat next to you.

Also, I accidentally misplaced one of the rubber gaskets while cleaning my Thermos. I mailed Thermos and they sent me a complete replacement lid (all components included) free of charge. Huge props to any company that is committed to that level of customer service.

That said, I wouldn't toss this thing inside a backpack, or otherwise leave it to its own devices if it weren't right side up. It also won't keep your coffee hot for half a day, though it will keep it warm for an hour or two, which is plenty more than most folks need.

tl;dr: If you're looking for more of a "thermos" mug, I'd go with the Zojirushi (I'm actually probably going to order one for my backcountry pursuits as modern Thermos "thermoses" are apparently garbage). If you're looking for something to use in the car, I'd definitely recommend the Thermos travel mug.

u/Megatron_McLargeHuge · 2 pointsr/Coffee

This Thermos one has a great lid and fits the Aeropress.

u/Cenzo · 2 pointsr/bicycling

I use this. It fits in my bottle cage, however I usually carry it in the water bottle holder of my bookbag. It is completely spill proof, so you could close it and throw it in a bag without worrying at all about spillage. It also disassembles so that you can clean every nook. And it keeps coffee warm longer than any mug I have ever used (and almost as long as a vacuum thermos). Hot coffee in the morning is still warm at the end of the day, and not quite room temp until late evening.

I want some pokemon cards I just started re-watching the tv show ... and always liked Pikachu i have too many of these

u/ITellOnlyTheTruth · 2 pointsr/AdviceAnimals

I've got this one. Burn-your-tongue hot to this-is-about-as-hot-as-i-can-drink over the course of 6 hours.

u/datasskipz · 2 pointsr/Coffee

I'd reccommend just getting a new vessel. I have one of these and it's built like a tank and lasted over 4 years. Easily the best travel mug I've ever owned.

I started with an OXO and had it for years. it was spill proof, kept my coffee hot for hours and hours, the spout was comfy, but the lid mechanism didn't break apart for cleaning. Eventually this became a problem... seals stretched and I would have to find creative ways to keep the breather hole clear of coffee particulate.
g

About a year ago I replaced the oxo for a Thermos.. The lid breaks apart for easy cleaning, and it certainly keeps the contents hot. So hot, in fact, that It took a while to get used to how much hotter the coffee was. after a year or so, its the only complaint I have. Coffee is too hot to drink sometimes.
Both mugs are stainless inside, but the thermos is unibody and the oxo had a plastic top portion.

Good luck!

u/plaidpaint · 2 pointsr/Coffee

I have a Thermos travel tumbler that works well.

Very clear open-closed indicator on the top. Seals completely when closed, so no leaking in transit. Lid comes apart for cleaning.

I've only had it for a couple months, so I can't speak for the longevity, but no issues so far.

u/Finkelstein · 2 pointsr/Coffee

Have you looked at this Thermos? I've bought 4 personally. First for my wife, only to get jealous and want my own, and I've given two out as gifts. I love it, and on busy days I still have warm coffee until noon.

u/grumbles · 1 pointr/Coffee

Thermos Stainless King and Thermos Sipp are popular on Amazon. Contigo Autoseal, while also popular, seems to have some rather gross issues according to user pictures and reviews.

I travel with this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002PY7AYS/ref=mp_s_a_1_14?qid=1450839696&sr=8-14&pi=AC_SX118_SY170_QL70&keywords=thermos .

I'd ask them to fill it up 1/4th of the way up and soak your bottle in there. It keeps liquids hot up for 8 hours! We rarely use it for coffee anymore. Lol.

u/sporkpdx · 1 pointr/AskEngineers

Buy yourself a thermos so you never have to worry about inferior coffee containment devices again. Wash it annually if you're a clean freak.

u/creepyunclejoe · 1 pointr/Coffee

I would highly recommend a thermos brand mug. Been using this one since 2014 including throwing it in my bike commuting pack. It is spill proof, indestructible, and great insulation.

I also have a contigo and never liked the design with the push button to drink.

This is my favorite travel mug! It rules. Nothing ever spills, it keeps stuff the same temperature for 5-6 hours, and it's very easy and comfortable to drink from. I really dislike putting my mouth on plastic when drinking coffee, so the stainless steel rim is neat. This is also the only travel mug I have ever owned that doesn't leak AT ALL. It's a little annoying to clean, which is its only drawback in my book! I thought about buying the Contigo, but my experience with mugs that have similar sealing mechanisms was not great.

u/CTV49 · 1 pointr/WTF

Yes! I personally use this one: Thermos Stainless King 16-Ounce Leak-Proof Travel Mug But it's the same idea. As long as there is no seam anywhere near the opening of the mug, it's all good.

u/pnumaticgiraffe · 1 pointr/Coffee

I’ve used this one every day for several years, and I’m very happy with it. No funnel required, keeps the heat in very well, and it’s built like a tank.

I love my Thermos tumbler. Had it for over 6 years now and I swear this thing is indestructible. It also has a handy tea bag hook.

u/v_cygnus · 1 pointr/AdviceAnimals

This is the kind I have but I imagine that any of the items in that product line would be similarly effective.

u/lamplamp3 · 1 pointr/Coffee

Yep. Top rack. Haven’t had a problem yet.

I have three of these. I use one in the morning and one in the afternoon, and there is a spare in case I leave one somewhere or want to share.

They are easy to clean and they keep drinks hot all day. They keep my black coffee so hot I have to leave the lid off for 15 minutes before I go. Well worth the $20.

u/zzxzzzzxx · 1 pointr/Coffee

i got this Thermos about half a year ago. it's definitely worth the money, mine's been (literally) thrown around, it's still good, and things stay hot forever in them. i have absolutely no complaints about it. i'm really cheap but i figured it was better to spend the money on something that worked well rather than something that might break/open on me

Best travel mug I've found. Leak proof is a huge deciding factor for me.
