I was trying to find a good edition of his run last night and saw that they are releasing this fairly soon. Will probably take forever to finish tho.

See below. Reading Jason Aaron's Thor first, then Cates' Venom, then Absolute Carnage is a really rewarding reading experience for new/returning readers IMO. That and Thanos Wins + Cosmic Ghost Rider are what got me back into comics.

Thor: God of Thunder #1 - #11 by Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic (#1 - #5 are on Kindle unlimited here)
Thanos Vol. 2 #13 - #18 by Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw
Cosmic Ghost Rider #1 - #5 by Donny Cates and Dylan Burnett
Secret Wars by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic
Venom Vol. 4 #1 - #6 (on Kindle Unlimited)
Infinity Gauntlet by Jim Starlin and George Perez
The Vision #1 - #12 by Tom King and Gabriel Walta

I've heard Hickman's Fantastic Four and Avengers runs are very good as well, but I haven't read them myself.

Some ongoing books worth checking out are:

House of X / Powers of X
Immortal Hulk
Venom
Absolute Carnage

This run covers him losing his arm I believe:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thor-Jason-Aaron-Complete-Collection/dp/1302922955/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=thor&qid=1563826455&rnid=1642204031&s=books&sr=1-1

While this is the run leading up to it:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thor-Jason-Aaron-Complete-Collection/dp/1302918109/ref=pd_aw_sbs_1/258-0536864-7819462?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=1302918109&pd_rd_r=f0c8e31a-ceb9-4360-baed-aee70a978761&pd_rd_w=JEf67&pd_rd_wg=YacOv&pf_rd_p=d9539b3c-75e6-4bff-a48d-94806c2c2f83&pf_rd_r=B4V0STNEBHGSCQAZZME1&psc=1&refRID=B4V0STNEBHGSCQAZZME1

Edit: I would start with the second link there, although that is purely Thor Odinson as Thor as that is the story beforehand. You may also want to read Original Sin after that before moving on to the first link I gave you, because that shows where Thor loses his hammer. Here’s Original Sin:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Original-Sin-Jason-Aaron/dp/0785154914/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=original+sin&qid=1563826715&s=gateway&sr=8-2

Edit again: Also, if you want to follow Odinson more, read Unworthy Thor. The links I sent you are amazon UK, so if you’re not in the UK you probably don’t want to order straight from the links I sent you.

I made a post about this the other day but didn't get much feedback.

I just saw a new collected edition of Jason Aaron's Thor run. This collects issues 1-18, so provided Marvel publishes the entire run in these editions there would be around 4, I guess. I can't afford to get it all in trades and don't really enjoy reading a massive omnibus, so I think this is probably my best bet to read the full run.

Does this breakdown look right to those that have read this run? Thor: God of Thunder has 25 issues, Thor has 8 issues, The Mighty Thor has 30 issues, The Unworthy Thor has 5 issues, and Thors has 5 issues. So, if that's 73 issues total, that's probably 4 paperback collections like this?

I know Marvel sometimes cancels formats in between releases, but this is probably a safe bet given how popular it is, right?

The complete collection is 3 trades in one, not 2. 18 issues in total Complete Collection Link

They are not together at the time and Thor doesn't actually know who has taken over his role for a while. (Thor at the time is unworthy, for convoluted reasons, but fundamentally someone tried to kill all Gods in the universe with a 'GodBomb' because he felt Gods had failed in their responsibility/role and while Thor beat him he...took the villain's argument to heart. This is all in Jason Aaron's Thor run)
