He's a real chubster.

"No, t'is a horrendous creature of inconceivable proportions, his scaly back hunched over as if unable to bear the weight of its own madness, leathery wings creaking and folding inward, a mass of tentacles squirming from its octopod head upon a humanoid body!"

"You mean like this?"

"Go fuck yourself."

The not-in-public item: because I feel like carrying a huge plush Cthulu will make people look at me funny. (on the $10-$20 list)

The phallic item, without the wings it kinda looks that way :P (main list)

The most geeky item was the hardest for me to choose because there are so many of them but I ended up going with this one because I think tabletop D&D is nerdier than Minecraft. (10-20)

The best item to bring to a deserted island is this because I could cut things and peel things and take down large beasts..... okay, maybe that one was kind of ambitious. (main)

Here is something I made completely by hand: http://fav.me/d4eag1i (work in progress pic)

The only picture I have of the finished product is this one: http://fav.me/d4eagip

It was a gift for a friend who mentioned in passing that her doll needed a throne. I made the frame entirely out of notebook spirals. The cushion is star-patterned cloth stuffed with two layers of bubble wrap. Total crafting time: approx. 8 hours

Out of everything in my wishlist, this would really make my day.

You know, part of the problem is that everything Lovecraft wrote was brand new and fresh at the time. People didn't know what they were in for. Nowadays we all know all the stories, or at least the essentials, and Cthulhu has lost his mysterious edge. Seriously, how can we tremble in existential terror when stuff like this exists? Without a legitimate fear of the unknown, it's just about impossible to pull it off.
