The reason the seabag is preferred is because space is limited on ships and submarines. So you can lay your seabag flat under your mattress or roll it up tight and keep it in your rack. If you bring big luggage you'll have to keep it in the "seabag locker" (if your ship even has one). The seabag locker is just a locked space where everyone throws their luggage. you can only access the space if the duty MA opens it up, so good luck trying to get anything out of there in a timely manner--and you're going to find that 200+ sailors trying to find their specific piece of luggage will result in damage, theft, and mass chaos in a small and overcrowded compartment.

Tldr: keep your seabag. You got issued it and not a suitcase or a wheeled duffle for a reason. Buy a wheeled frame like this one and use that to navigate through the airport.
