Mouse: Logictech G502. It is widely considered to be the "best" mouse for PC enthusiasts.

Keyboard: Will heavily depend on your preferences, but I have a DASKeyboard 4 Ultimate with Cherry MX Blues (tactile click). I have also heard nice things about the Corsair K70, and Strafe. If you are new to mechanical keyboards, I would recommend checking out the subreddit /r/mechanicalkeyboards for more information.

Headset: I just use an old set of Turtle Beach X12s I've had forever, because I usually just use my soundbar, but a buddy of mine prefers to use a desk mic and some Audio-Technica headphones.

EDIT: Saw your budget in the other comments. You should probably go with the Strafe for your keyboard. Most others below $100 aren't as high of quality. Personally, I think you should get the Strafe, the G502, and the headphones/mic combo.

It's cheaper on Amazon and eligible for free prime shipping. Does anyone know of a good headset that uses a USB port rather than the audio jack? The audio jack on my laptop is on the fritz.

u/Grondaivor · 3 pointsr/gaming

I'd recommend: Tutle Beach X12

Here are some alternatives.

Vibration Headset XT

Ear Force PX21

Tritton Trigger Headset

EDIT: I'd also like to add stick with a cheap headset for now if you intend on buying a more expensive on later. A lot of companies will tend to take advantage of the next generation and release new headsets.

I just bought these not even 2 months ago http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005EQE0YM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They're amazing. You can adjust the game and chat sound with the headset. The sound is so much better, especially for fps and adventure games. You hear every little detail and you can properly feel the tone of the game. You can also put the tv on mute and listen solely through the headset if you need silence in the house for some reason. The best part is that it's $40 so it's not hurting your pockets too much.

There are better quality ones out, but it's great if you're like me and just want a headset that plays the game audio with chat features for cheap.

I personally have the Turtle beach X12's and recommend them.

The g502 is on sale on Amazon for $55. Get it.

It'll be difficult to find a headset for sub-$50. I have the Turtle Beach X12s which are a little old but sound great and have sidetone, which some more expensive headsets like the Hyper X Cloud II's do not have.

I think you should at least give it a shot. As much as it can be frustrating because you don't have control over what other people do and they may take loot you want, etc., the game is also designed to be played in coop so there are a lot of cool things you will not experience if you only play solo, mainly in terms of the interactions and synergies between the different Vault Hunters' skills.

Like I said in a response below, the best way to do it is with friends but if that's not possible, be patient and consistently stay away from people who play like assholes (leave the game or kick them out of yours) and add nice people to your friend list in order to keep playing with them in the future. This has resulted in a lot of really satisfactory gameplay for me in BL2. Also, this subreddit can be a good resource to find cool people to play with.

Finally, as much as many people are ok with playing with you if you don't have a mic, it is something that really enhances the experience so maybe you could consider investing in one. You don't need to spend $100, there are more budget friendly options like this one or this one that some people will hate on but they work perfectly fine if you adjust your expectations to the amount of money you're spending and they will last if you treat them with care. Even this is an interesting option if you're on Xbox and I'm sure there's similar alternatives for other systems.

I use Turtle Beach - Ear Force X12. Runs about 35$ on Amazon. Here is the link. I think the sound quality is excellent.

They seem to get a lot of hate, but the Turtle Beach X12s have served me well over the past year.

u/RegularWhiteShark · 1 pointr/gaming

I have a set of Turtle Beach X12's for my 360.

u/Arachnocentric · 1 pointr/gaming

I've had one of these for 4 years now.

The point of failure always seems to be the wire connecting to the headset itself - no problem whatsoever with this one.

This is what I use. https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Amplified-Stereo-Headset-PC/dp/B005EQE0YM

It has inline volume controls as well as a bass control. Speakers and mic are both great. It has 3.5mm jacks for the speakers and mic. Can't beat the price.

Track clip works fine with this.

Turtle Beach x12 are $40 on amazon right now and they have easily been the best headphones I have ever used. Would recommend.

$30 now.

Ive had about three of these over my gaming lifetime. Every time I get something fancier I always end up going back.

u/Funklord_Toejam · 1 pointr/buildapc

i personally have this headset [currently ~38$] and think its good value for the $40 i paid. mic quality is great and is very adjustable. earpiece quality isnt the best (or the worst ;) ), but gets quite loud so you can wear the headset around your neck if you want.

there is a slightly cheaper version [~30$] which is similar but i havent used personally but looks like it would get the job done.

u/xANTO1NEx · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I still use potato-box 360 turtle beach x12s on occasion, they have both mic in and audio out for PC, as well as the screwed up jack for the 360 controller.

Amazon link

They've served me well enough for over 3 years at this point.

u/paperkeyboard · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I personally have a Turtle Beach X12. http://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Amplified-Headset-Xbox-360-PC/dp/B005EQE0YM. It's great and slightly cheaper.

u/Apherix · 1 pointr/xboxone

You'll need this and this and this and this.

Or you could buy an X12 headset.

u/MiracleWhippit · 1 pointr/gamingpc

I've spent hundreds on headsets in the past. Nowadays I just use cheapo turtle beach headsets. http://www.amazon.com/Force-Gaming-Headset-Amplified-Stereo-Pc/dp/B005EQE0YM/

I've picked them up for... cheaper on sale in the past. I don't like wireless (battery life, interference) and spending a lot of money on a wired set that won't last too long seems like a bad idea for my usage.

u/Kaztecian · 1 pointr/Twitch

Another recommendation I have is the Turtle Beach X12. They have lasted me a long time, and the mic quality sounds great.

u/TlailstheFaux · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I got this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005EQE0YM/ref=pe_385040_30332200_TE_item
for $40 which in theory should translate to roughly £23 However I'm not sure how Amazon handles exchange rates. Anyways I just got it and it works fine, it has a usb and 2 audio jacks so you can choose which one.The cable is about 3 meters.

u/PonderousWanker · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I recommend the Logitech G230 headset, its 7.1 surround and the mic is absolutely stellar compared to my Turtle Beach X12 headset. The mic on it was absolute dog shit, my mates kept hearing echoing in teamspeak. Could have been a faulty headset but i'm well pleased with the upgrade and it's in your price range. It matches my black and red setup like a dream.

u/HooksaN · 1 pointr/xbox

Hmm, well the best would be top of that range- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-Licensed-Tritton-Trigger-Headset/dp/B0057SDCLY/ref=zg_bs_676528011_13 £39.99

For less, these would be pretty good too: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Turtle-Beach-Force-Xbox-Headset/dp/B005EQE0YM/ref=zg_bs_676528011_4

Personally, id pay a little more and get the 39.99 Triton Triggers

u/tarehart · 1 pointr/Vive

Ah, sorry to hear that. Yes, I did try going back to a direct connection, but no luck.

You inspired me to try out my PC headset and it turns out the cable length is perfect. If anyone's curious - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005EQE0YM

u/The_catalyzt · 1 pointr/DotA2

I use Turtle Beach X12's. They were originally for my Xbox, but they work perfect on my Computer. Mic and sound quality is fantastic. I bought mine for about £40 over a year ago. Still work perfectly.

u/LexicanLuthor · 1 pointr/buildapc

I really loved these headphones when I used to have an inline mic. Really good sound quality, comfortable, and a very good deal.

The negative reviews are all about fragility and I can comment on that - had mine for about two years before the mic just stopped working and the sound started coming in really strange. That said, these are relatively cheap, so it's a trade off.

When they wore out I made the mistake of proceeding to try five different headphones, and hating them all. Turtle beach for life.

TurtleBeach X12. Pretty good headset for the price. Audio isn't the best but it's decent and it has that same audio mixer you want on the cord.
