Filatova's book is a good place to start. The writing and translation aren't perfect but the book is perfectly readable. Her type portraits leave something to be desired but her charts and diagrams are excellent. And while it doesn't explain the full model A, it's a relatively smooth transition from reading Filatova's book to comprehending the full model.
She wrote in Russian (passed away two years ago). Her book and some of her articles are a translation to English.
