Mmmm, the Sanford Uni-ball Micro 0.5mm in black is the greatest pen ever made. On a legal pad, the right amount of padding beneath just makes silky lettering.

I use a expensive-ish fountain pen now (Lamy Studio) and highly recommend it, but the best disposable pens I've ever used were the Uniball stick micro pens (http://www.amazon.com/Uni-ball-Stick-Micro-Roller-60151/dp/B00006IE8P) or deluxe.
Comparing the X-701 to the Sasra Grand and the Uni-ball Roller. Top part is from the Sasra, bottom is X-701. When I said the Sasra was the "best of both worlds", I was referring to the consistency and quality of the X-701 and the smoothness and line thickness of the Uni-Ball. It's kind of hard to make out in the picture, but the Sasra pen does not smear AT ALL compared to the G2, even when rubbed immediately after writing. It's kind of crazy. Ruggedness and water-resistance aside, this is a great pen for every day use and will now be my new daily driver.
Honestly you cant go wrong with anything uniball, especially the thicker ones so it doesnt rip through thin paper

I've written on shitty glossy notebook paper that's horrible about smearing, and I've had no problems with those pens.
And cursive... Don't get me started on cursive. Everything I've ever signed is a unique snowflake.

My EDC and favorite disposable stick is the [Uni-Ball Micro] (http://www.amazon.com/Uni-ball-Stick-Micro-Roller-60151/dp/B00006IE8P), $8 for 12. You can get them in an office supply store. The Super Ink is the best-writing, blackest stuff you can put on paper, but you cannot write on any slick or glossy surfaces without smudging.

Also a lefty, been using these for several years. I've tried switching to various other pens (Pilot G2, Jetstream, Signo 207, Cross Century, V5/V7 Precise, etc.) and have yet to find one that writes as well for me. No feathering, no bleed-through, no skipping or clumping, and the ink dries fast enough that I don't get any smudging, even after extensive note-taking.
The only downside is that they don't make them in a "nicer" barrel, nor are they refillable. But they're cheap, they write great, and they look good if you appreciate minimalism.
