Edit: I'll keep adding things as I remember them. I'm not adding the usual stuff like laptops, ipads, gym gear, etc, because those seem...common sense?

  • Cold meds with pseudoephedrine
  • Magnets (for lockers if you get one)
  • 3M command hooks of varying weight limits
  • Strong plastic coat hangars
  • 550 cord (I'd say no more than 30' of it)
  • Headlamp with red and white light (find one that you don't have to go "through" the white to get to the red!)
  • 2-3 good quality plastic clothes pins to hold curtains closed or some other task (the ones linked are identical to the ones at the Dollar Store for, I think, $4 for 12)
  • Knife sharpener
  • Pocket knife
  • Suction cup hook for the shower (if you use a bath scrubby)
  • Nail clippers and nail file
  • Small FA kit (bandaids, etc)
  • Small sewing kit with the right colours of thread
  • GoToobs for stuff like shampoo and body wash (and aloe gel if you burn)
  • Bose noise cancelling headphones (with a spare battery)
  • Camera (don't be the guy that brings a DSLR with 5 lenses)
  • Couple of power adapters if power is different
  • Water bottle (and denture cleaning tablets to clean it if there's no bottle brush)
  • Couple of locks (combo or keyed-alike, varying sizes)
  • Travel blanket
  • Inflatable neck pillow (the best one I've ever used)
  • Anker USB battery bank (love Anker products!)
  • Anker PowerPort
  • Depending on living accommodations, I also have a "travel kitchen" that I take with me that has a good Santoku knife, cutting board, pepper grinder and garlic press.
  • 2-3 tide pods because it could be a few days or a week before you get to the PX
  • If you know your sleeping arrangements, buy a "bed in a bag" for that bed size. Nothing like having your own good sheets to slide into after a rough day. Make sure you wash everything before heading over, so they're soft and ready to go when you get there.
  • A collapsable shoe organizer that you can use to store gitch, socks, t-shirts, etc, or even a collapsable sweater organizer (or two) if you want more horizontal space and less vertical.
  • If you're coming home or going somewhere on HLTA, don't forget to pack a civvie-pattern backpack. Don't be the guy wandering around a foreign airport wearing your day pack and combat boots in jeans.
  • Birthday/Anniversary/special event cards that you can mail from your location (shows you were thinking of them well in advance of your departure and before the event). Bonus points if it's a mushy anniversary card to a significant other, ensuring that your return is "extra special".

I use the Anker charger https://www.amazon.com/Charger-Anker-Premium-Desktop-Delivery/dp/B072K5ZJXF/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=anker+usb-c+charger&qid=1556286951&s=gateway&sr=8-5

But I would now purchase the updated Powerport PD4

https://www.anker.com/products/variant/powerport-atom-pd-4/A2041121

It takes a double barrel (C7) plug/cable, so I just ordered C7 power plugs for the countries I needed

https://www.amazon.com/SF-Cable-adapter-60320-C7-receptacle/dp/B004OHHKSU/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=IEC+60320-C7&qid=1556287077&s=gateway&sr=8-3

Upside is I have the choice of bringing the cable or the plug (or both).

u/duucfho · 9 pointsr/onebag

Nothing exists that fits all your qualifications. You're not gonna get that many ports, with that much power, in a small package.

My current setup is an Anker 5 Port with PD and shorter C7 cord. I charge my 2017 Macbook Pro 15, iPhone, and Pixel phone just fine.

My old setup was a Pixel 45W charger, and an Aukey dual-port. I consider this setup more compact overall, but I preferred having a cord to plug into outlets, instead of directly hanging the charger off the wall. If an outlet is wonky and can't support the weight (airplane outlets, I'm looking at you...) it sucks.

u/jfritsche · 5 pointsr/ipad

Check out Anker. I have this PowerPort and charge my iPad Pro and iPhone at the same time, along with my Apple Watch, Kindle, and baby monitor.

u/queuebitt · 3 pointsr/anker

The Atom PD 4 you linked is Anker's only dual USB-C desktop charger. It would of met your requirements, though was also overkill. It has had availability issues since release.

With your devices you're looking for a charger that supports:

  • iPhone 11 Pro Max: USB-C Power Delivery, 18W or more
  • iPad Pro 2018: USB-C Power Delivery, 30W or more
  • Samsung Note 9, Quick Charge 3.0 or USB-C Power Delivery, 18W or more

If the Note 10 changes fasting specs it'll go more toward USB-C Power Delivery, possibly up to 25W with PPS. But that's speculation.

Next closest Anker option is the PowerPort Speed 5 PD. Only one USB-C port, but will fast charge any of your devices. The USB-A ports support Apple 2.4A, an older fast charging tech the iPhone 11 should still support. It is a bit slower than USB-C PD or the included charger. But much faster than the old iPhone 5W charger. The Samsung will also charge via USB-A, but slower.

Best non-Anker option is probably the Satechi 75W Dual Type-C Travel Charger. Two USB-C ports, either will fast charge iPhone and Samsung. Top one charges iPad Pro at max rate (bottom works in a lot of cases, too). And two regular USB-A ports.

I've bought many Anker brand batteries, chargers, and cables. I'm currently using this model for my pixel, battery banks, and bluetooth devices.

u/Brewmd · 2 pointsr/WaltDisneyWorld

Your charger influences the speed the battery pack charges, as can the USB cable type.

Different chargers have different amperage output, and many travel chargers are a lower amp output.

The battery packs will handle charging from a higher amp charger.

I’ve fallen in love with my Anker Powerport PD (https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Premium-Charger-PowerPort-Delivery/dp/B072K5ZJXF)

It has four Power IQ ports offering 2.4 amp output, and one Power Delivery port, which is the Apple version of a rapid charge for high cap batteries over usb-c

It’s also hefty enough to handle charging all those devices at the same time, at maximum power.

Some of the Anker Products offer Qualcomm’s rapid charge that is used on some android products, some offer the Apple Power Delivery.

If it only lists PowerIQ, that’s just their own “smart” charge tech. It’s a 2.4 amp output charge, and is similar/compatible with Samsung’s rapid charger tech, and will have a noticeable improvement over most travel charger/wall ports.

The charger doesn't support power delivery, the USB C standard. What you need is one of these:

You will need a USB C to C cable as well.

u/Grim-Sleeper · 1 pointr/chromeos

I am a big fan of this Anker's USB-C power supply. Works fine for all my legacy devices and also for my cell phone and Pixelbook.

And the best part is, while it comes with a power cord, you can install an adapter to turn it into a wall charger. I haven't tried yet, but I imagine this also works with European plugs.

I installed an extra long 10ft USB charging cable. That's the beauty of having a device that you can plug arbitrary cables into, rather than being limited by the power supply that came with your device.

u/yoleska · 1 pointr/GooglePixel2

Thought I'd close this thread with a product that I bought and works for me. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072K5ZJXF

It's a 5-port multi-USB charger, with 1 USB-C port that works great for my Pixel2.

u/amex12345 · 1 pointr/Lenovo

I use the anker USB Type-C, Anker Premium 5-Port 60W USB Wall Charger, it is almost twice as wide as the stock charger, and only charges at 30W out of the usb C port. but it is a little lighter and has 4 usb ports for charging other devices. It does charge the 920 with no problem just a little slower. I a few times I forgot my charger before I bought this one I used my friends charger for his HP specter x360 a few times with no issues. I got the anker charger from amazon with a coupon code from anker for $32

So, I did not thoroughly do my research before purchasing the following charger as a spare for my Chromebook Pro
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072K5ZJXF/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza

This charger only gives me the "Low-power Charger connected" notification even though the charger says 60W. There is a review from another purchaser that realized this after the fact, and Anker stated that the CBP required "at least 12V/3.33A input when powering it".

My question: Is there any recommended multi-port USB Charger that will put out the necessary input for the CBP? I'd prefer something trusted such as Anker, but if I have to go to other brands to cut down to carrying 1 charger I will consider it.

u/tehdoughnut17 · 1 pointr/chromeos

The output specs on the OEM charger are 15V@2A (30W), 9V@3A (27W), and 5V@3A (15W), so I would look for a quality USB-C PD compliant brick that has those output specs.

I usually carry around this Anker wall charger with a USB-C cable so I don't have to carry around multiple bricks for my devices.

Or if you want to try to hunt down an OEM one, the Model is W16-030N1A.

u/tldnradhd · 1 pointr/ASUS

There are a lot of Amazon reviews regarding reliability concerns with the UX430UA. Unfortunately, there isn't as much information on the Q325UA because it's a Best Buy-only model. The Q325 is on sale this week. I was considering an HP Spectre x360 with similar specs, but this will be $300 less, so I'm probably going for the Asus. I'm using it for travel, so the 2-in-1 design is a plus along with the USB-C charging that means I can get something like this to charge multiple phones, batteries, and the laptop.

Edit: If all-day-power is a concern, there are portable batteries for USB-C power delivery. The 430 uses a traditional power brick, so no portables.

I've heard from some tech YouTubers that these are trust-worthy. I've never used them and they are a bit pricey. I've purchased from Anker several times with no big issues and their customer service is really good. Hope this helps.

u/GlobeTrott3r · 1 pointr/iPhoneXsMax

Good to hear you're not affected. My max arrives on the 4th so I'm not sure if it has the charge issue.

Got the OEM Apple USB-C cable and the $50 Anker 60w USB-C on the ready. Thinking about the OEM charger. After dropping $1,450, what's another $60?

I see you picked one from Anker.

If you don't mind the price hike, I can also recommend this one from Anker with Power Delivery (rather than Qualcomm QC 3.0):

u/pggbee · 1 pointr/thinkpad

It's a 60W Anker hub/power supply: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072K5ZJXF

Hmm, now that I'm looking at the listing again, it appears that it only delivers 30W, which is probably not enough

u/Ewalk · 1 pointr/applehelp

I have one of these on my desk and it works for USB stuff pretty well. As far as USB C to Lightning cable, AFAIK the only actual certified Made for iPhone USB C to Lightning cable is the official Apple one.

I know that doesn't really help much, but Anker is a really trusted brand of mine so I wouldn't go wrong with them. Here's a decent one. It's expensive, but it's definitely worth it.

u/anonymous-bot · 1 pointr/AndroidQuestions

This Anker wall charger has one USB-C port and a few USB A ports

u/PARASITICUS · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Premium-Charger-PowerPort-Delivery/dp/B072K5ZJXF/

There's that.

I don't think there's a brick with that many Type C ports.

u/andyooo · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

A-to-C cables have the potential to be dangerous in the way you're asking, and there was a lot of that in the beginning, where the manufacturers would put the wrong resistor (10k Ohm) and the cable would trick the host to output in many cases more than they could. For A-to-C cables you want a 56k Ohm resistor. See this article for more detail: https://www.androidauthority.com/usb-type-c-and-3-1-explained-656552/

Your best bet (though unfortunately not 100% certain) is with well known brands and C-to-C cables. The AmazonBasics ones are good and cheap, and as a bonus they're USB certified. I got several in different lengths. As for a charger, I like the multiport Anker one. They also have a new model, but I don't have that one.

u/patch_one_four_more · 1 pointr/essentialphone

The Essential phone is very, very picky about cables and chargers. The cable they included in the box is a very low quality cable and should be replaced for purposes besides charging. If you bought during an eBay special, you may have an unusually low quality charger.

For optimal (fast) charging, you want a high quality USB-PD rated USB wall (or car) charger supporting USB-C to USB-C charging.

Something like this, this, or this along with a USB type C to type C cable.

Once I switched to doing it this way, my phone started to charge rapidly every time.

u/Tavanatrix · 1 pointr/chromeos

The OEM charger is 45watts. It will charge on anything less than that but just not as quickly. Right now its charging on 10watts (cell charger).

I was looking into this charger but its pretty pricey and I would have to get a USB C to USB C cable as well.

u/JewishDan18 · 1 pointr/onebag

If the same cable that charges your laptop won't charge a microusb device with the adapter, it's probably a bad adapter. I've used the AmazonBasics c to micro cable without issue from by a type c charger and a MacBook pro. Does charging your phone via the type c/lightning cable work?

Personally, I went the route of a multiport charger. I use this one. It's a little sketchy on delivering the full 60w via type c, but works great otherwise. Unfortunately, I haven't found a 60w option from a (relatively) reputable company. Closest I've seen is 45w or 30w.

u/JimDantin · 1 pointr/chromeos

Your Anker charger will not have enough power output.

Think about a different approach -

Get a Chromebook that has a USB-C charger. Then build a travel kit around it. You will need a hub that uses your Chromebook charger as the power source, and includes multiple USB ports that can be used to charge your other devices.

This is one I found
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Premium-Charger-PowerPort-Delivery/dp/B072K5ZJXF/ref=sr_1_10?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1511790995&sr=1-10&keywords=usb-c+power+delivery+charging

There are probably many other ones available.
