For those that don’t want to spend that much for fast charging but want a quality product.

u/Lightsout565 · 5 pointsr/GooglePixel

You'll get the fastest charging from a USB C-to-C cable using a charger that supports USB Power Delivery. I believe the Pixel can charge up to 15w max and the Pixel XL 18w max. Google's official one is a solid choice for $35. Be careful with 3rd party cables/chargers as a lot of early USB C cables/chargers have had tons of issues.

If you don't want to spend the money, you can buy a fast charging USB A wall charger but you'll be capped around 12w. Anker sells a good one cheap for $13.

You can check out an app called "Ampere" to see the voltage and current your phone is being charged at.

I picked up an anker 24W 2 port charger in 2016 (amazon order searched for it). link

Charges the phone very quick for an $11 charger. I put my 8+ on the charger at ~3% yesterday and 15-20 minutes later it was at 35%.

Why people still use the 5W brick is kinda odd to me. I only use it for overnight charging where speed isn’t a requirement. Why would anyone buy the $70 brick + cable required to “fast charge” when you can just buy the $11 brick and get just as fast of a charge? At least normal people, if you’re buying gold Apple watches and 512GB iPhone XS Max then you’d probably buy the official brick.

E: fwiw Apple has a feedback page where you can voice your concerns/opinions. Might be worth the 2 minutes to you to say something.

Get two Anker plugs like these. One for bed and one for desk. Easily one if my fav features.

u/doodlebopsy · 3 pointsr/iphone

Does MFI certification only apply to chargers? I was looking at this Anker Elite Dual port which doesn’t mention apple certified.

u/gadgethog · 2 pointsr/apple

I was testing a 12W charger with my iPhone 7 just before my iPhone X arrived and I documented the charge over time. Based on their graph, the 12W is about twice as fast as the stock 5W charger (as I guess you might expect).

I haven't finished testing the cheaper wireless chargers yet, but from the ones I have tested I've found that the cable and the charging brick can make a huge difference... more so than the charging pad/cradle itself.

Cheaper cables and charging bricks may result in half the amp throughput as a more reputable charging brick and a good cable. So far... Apple, Anker, SyncWire and NestCam usb power supplies have been the best.

If you want a wireless charger right now and you don't want to spend $60, I'd recommend this one:

http://amzn.com/B01N1WRNOB

The cable it comes with is good but power supply isn't great... if you've got a 2.4A power supply from Apple or Anker, use that instead and you'll get about 25% faster charging. If you want to buy one, get this one:

http://amzn.com/B071YMZ4LD

But at that point you may as well spend the extra $20 for 7.5W, unless you prefer the stand style charger (I do, mostly because it's easier to get it right on the coil).

I'll do a full review once I've got more mileage on them.

Anything Anker makes.

u/Hothabanero6 · 2 pointsr/Surface

First it's not the cable but the charger that's the problem, perhaps it's out of warranty but it should be replaced.

As far as standard USB chargers you need a 12W (24W Dual Port) charger like...

I really like Anker brand products. Here is one that has USB-C and regular USB: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0721DV7YX

This is a cheaper one if you don't need USB-C: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071YMZ4LD

I love Anker! I have this bad boy and love it but it'll definitely be overkill for OP. From your link I'd suggest this one for OP.

u/bemental_ · 2 pointsr/PacificCrestTrail

If it's only you using the 10,000, it could be OK.

I carry a 20,000 mAh battery pack for myself alone, and on the AT there were a few instances where I came close to running out of juice.

And that's the AT. Where you're never more then a few miles from a road or civilization. And I'm a tech savvy kind of guy who doesn't waste power willy nilly.

It all depends on your usage, but if it was me, I'd up the capacity a bit - especially if your electronics are the primary means of navigation and they don't have replaceable batteries.

The whole "have and not need vs need and not have argument"

Regarding "quick charging", unless your device specifically supports it and you have the proper cables and chargers, the best you're going to do is pump as much juice into the device in as short amount of time as possible.

Your typical phone charger (think little white/black square with one USB port) is one amp, while a larger device charger is typically around two amps. In this situation more amps equals faster charging.

They do make slightly larger chargers that provide multiple two amp ports on them, I recently switched to this one. Can charge the two biggest batteries I have at once (typically the phone and battery pack), and not worry about having to chose one or the other.

On the AT I used a single two amp charger for my battery pack and devices, and came up short a few times (ran out of time charging and didn't get enough juice). What saved me was I had a large enough battery pack that I could make it work with what capacity I had left based on the number of expected days to my next stop.

Also, if you're going to Nero at all, it usually means leaving your devices to charge while you go run errands. If you can only charge one thing, you'll very likely run into the time crunch I mentioned above - being able to charge two devices at once helps solve that problem.

Also, some battery packs provide what's called "pass through" charging, which allows you to effectively daisy chain your devices and charge them all - plugging your battery pack into the wall charger, and your devices into the battery pack while it's charging.

If I was you, I'd do some napkin math on how many recharges you expect to get/need based on your devices and go from there. It's not 100% foolproof, so you can calculate a small percentage of energy transfer loss for weather and heat loss while charging, but basically take the mAh of each device you're bringing, multiply that by how many chargers you think you'll need during a given stretch of time, and add it all up. If that number is bigger then, or close to your battery pack's capacity, you're cutting it too close.

Ahh yes 2.1 is correct. I got this to use for my charger & it works well.

u/NCSUGavin · 2 pointsr/wyzecam

Your other thought might be to buy a dual port USB plug that provide 10W to each USB outlet. Then run two long USB cables. That dual port plug will be very easy to find. example 1

u/DankMEMES- · 2 pointsr/MotoX

My phone did the same after about a week, so I'm assuming it's just the charger. I bought this one and it works wonderfully :)

Anker Wireless Charger and Anker Dual Port 24w Charger

I use this overnight because the wireless charger can only push 5w to the iPhone X. If I plug it in using a Lightning cable then I get the full 15w and my iPhone charges in 3 hours. I don't want to use high speed charging because I feel it hurts the battery.

I've used a bunch of the no-name Chinese wireless chargers and they either failed after a few months or they had a very small sweet spot when induction charging started.

My current setup, similar to what it sounds like you're looking for, all-in for under $35

Cheap, and multi input voltage supported!

Honestly, I can't remember the last time I saw a charger with a transformer. SMPS has become the new standard.

Can you be more specific about what you want? It's not super clear what you're after.

Do you want something that lets you plug USB cables into wall outlets like this?

Or one of those but with a built in extension cord like this?

u/PeteyNice · 1 pointr/chromeos

Thanks, but I wouldn't call that a travel charger. It is pretty big and it has its own cable.

Not USB-C, but something like this is what I am looking for:

That’s the exact setup I use. Sorry if links like that aren’t allowed. I even have the two charging cords that come with the battery taped together and basically just keep them with that usb block as it exclusively gets used to charge that battery. The battery has awesome capacity. Can charge my whole bag worth of GoPro batteries, my phone and iPadpro and still have a little juice.

While Samsung allows you to disable fast charging on the Galaxy phones, Google does not on the Pixel phones. If you don't want to use fast charging on your Pixel, you need to buy a charger that does not have fast charging. I would recommend something like the PowerPort Elite 2 if you do not want fast charging. Pair it with an Anker or Monoprice cable.

u/blanco2701 · 1 pointr/oneplus

If you really really don't care about fast charging, I suggest the Anker brand... I suggest this cables and this wall charger.

u/rasterbated · 1 pointr/applehelp

Okay, that is not available from Apple. You might be able to buy one on eBay but who knows. You can also use any USB chargers, like a charger for an Android device or iPhone. It might not charge at full speed, but it will charge.

Why do you need a new plug? If you want a new charger, I would look at something like this since Apple no longer sells iPad 3 accessories.

u/1s85fgs98h1s98g50s8d · 1 pointr/iphone

Is it this one? - and then are you just using the regular lightning from there?

I can highly recommend the Anker power supplies. I have had a Pi2 and a Pi3 running 24x7 on this one for well over a year.

Would this work to charge my phone and Pro Controller at the same time? How about the phone and the Switch itself? And would it quick charge?
